The Hostelz.com Review

Klaipeda Hostel is a comfortable hostel with a convenient location.

The Location

Klaipeda Hostel is literally just across the road from the bus station. It is also incredibly close to the train station and to a large Iki supermarket, where you can stock up on food supplies. It is approximately a twenty-minute walk to get to the downtown region from there, but you can also take a local bus for a cheap price to get around if you don't feel like walking. It is also about a twenty-five-minute walk from the passenger-only ferry terminal if you are planning a day trip to the Curonian Spit. The hostel has loads of information on how to do it, and they even rent scooters for the day so that you can make the most of your experience. Otherwise there are bicycles and buses as an alternative.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There are two floors of the hostel. There are dorm rooms on each level with bathrooms and kitchens on each level as well. The rooms are quite spacious and they give you the sheets to make your own bed. They are quite comfortable to sleep in and each bed has an associated lamp and two socket outlets for charging electricals.

There are a combination of separate toilets, separate showers, and combined toilet showers within the hostel. They are all quite nice and clean to use and you never really have to wait to use them.

Common Spaces

There is a living area where you can watch television, use their computer if you don't have access to Wi-Fi, and chill out. There is also a dining table here for eating dinner. In the upstairs kitchen area, which has more facilities than the downstairs kitchen, you can also find space to sit and eat. It is better to use the upstairs kitchen for full meal cooking, as the downstairs kitchen is more of a kitchenette and is less spacious.

Summary

Klaipeda Hostel is a really nice and secure place to stay during your time in Klaipėda. They have door codes instead of keys, so you don't need to worry about losing them. The staff are helpful and friendly and can give you loads of knowledge on what to see and do in the area. This is a highly recommended hostel!

Good hostel
Save yourself 4 litas by just walking up and not booking online. Minute from train station and across the street from bus station.

Worst hostel ever been
imagine living in a two-room flat with twenty people. the kitchen consists of a kettle and a couch, where maximum four can sit. special extra -- the unfriendly and arrogant staff. and all this for just 13€ -- unbelievable!

This is a great hostel, located next to the bus station, which is very handy if you happen to wander in late at night. It's a five-minute walk to the city center, which is small and okay. What makes Klaipeda a must-see is the famous Curonian Spit, a gorgeous peninsula ideal for a daytrip, and the nearby abandoned underground Soviet missile base. The hostel organizes cheap and qualitative trips to this base, which is awesome. That said, the hostel is very small. Although the walls are pretty thick, I can imagine that when it's a full house, things might get a bit noisy. But don't let that put you off, this is a great place and Jurga, the owner, rocks!
