Hostal Los Amigos has a very famous name among backpackers in Guatemala. It does not work with any reseller or booking site, and therefore can only be booked on their website by sending an email. It seems to be full quite often, so many travelers book it several days in advance.
It is located right in the middle of the island of Flores, on a small street. It has two buildings, one where the main hostel is, with bar, tables, receptions, and dorms and some private rooms, and another called Los Amigos Two, which is fifty metres away, and is used only for private rooms. It is very easy to get there, as it is by far the most famous hostel in the area and all tuk tuk, taxi, and bus drivers know about it. If coming with the bus from Belize, the bus station is situated outside Flores and a ten-minute tuk tuk ride is needed to get to the hostel. If traveling around Guatemala with shuttle buses, the stop is a couple of mins away from the hostel. The area seems to be in general safer than most other places in Guatemala, however a few cases of robberies have happened.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are several type of rooms. The cheapest option is to choose just a mattress on the floor with no bed. Then there are more luxurious dorms with bunk beds and many private rooms. Rooms are in general clean but not very spacious. Toilets are averagely clean as well, but there are not many in the hostel, so you might need to wait for a little while.
There is a vast area with sofas and tables and hammocks where customers can relax and chill during the day. There is a bar as well with some tables and at 9:30 p.m. there is a night lounge, which acts as the nightclub for the hostel, where people drink and party. We found the vibe to be very quiet and not really a party one. While it's advertised as a party hostel, this place is not really one of that kind. The lights are also very low and there are many plants in the common areas, making the space always dark and sleepy. It is possible to meet people but not on the party vibe, more in a relaxed situation. At night we found the place to be too relaxed and many people go to sleep early to do the Tikal sunrise tour. The night lounge is often empty. There is no kitchen so it is more expensive for customers to eat, and no free breakfast is offered. They work as a travel agency as well, but we found prices to be higher than other tour companies in the area.
A nice note is that they have rabbits freely walking around the hostel, so guests can have a great time playing with those little cute animals.
In conclusion, this hostel is average -- it's not a fun and party place, and it's not cheap either. It's a good place to stay in Flores, as we found that most of the travelers stay there. If you don't like animals, it might not be the place for you as they have rabbits, dogs, and cats inside the hostel for the whole time.

Location and Contact
• Flores is located on an island which is connected to the mainland with a bridge. • If you arrive by bus, the best way to reach Los Amigos is taking a Tuk-Tuk or Taxi for no more than 15 Quetzales (around 2 USD). • From the airport we recommend getting a taxi too as there is no airport shuttle. The airport taxi will cost you between 35 - 45 Quetzales (around 5 USD). • On the island, walk towards the big white cathedral in the centre of the island. We are located in a small street 1 min from the cathedral. If you see a yellow house with a wooden sign with our logo, you have made it!
