Fantastic hostel with friendly staff and decent chill-out areas
Staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and the hostel is conveniently located a short walk from the train station. A lift, garden area, secure lockers, smoking room, and great value food are the icing on the cake. More expensive than other hostels but well worth it.

Great bed and location plus free breakfast.
Good place, central location, free breakfast, and nice facilities. The Winston bar (the bar in the hostel) is top notch. You will see many locals go to it because its that good. It can be a little noisy at night with the rooms on street level.

Has everything you need
Overall the hostel was good and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. Our room was clean and spacious and the complimentary breakfast was decent. I regret not taking advantage of the drink/food specials there. I ate at the bar on the main floor once and the burger I had was pretty good, although overpriced. If you use the 25% discount the cost isn't too bad.

Great Location, Great Beds
Overall for the price a better place to stay that most(hostel wise). Make sure and take advantage of drink specials and food specials and show your discount card because we forgot most of the time. The club is open late so there is always something to do and the beds are crazy comfortable for a hostel. Food is good and is 25% off. Smoking area is right out the back door, not the greatest smoke atmosphere but still good.

Great location, good food, reasonable prices
only negative thing was that I got confirmation for a 5-person dorm, but they were overbooked so I had to move to a 8-person dorm.

This hostel has a great bed and nice sheets to sleep in. Didn't expect this quality. Unfortunatly I was on a 8p dorm room with 2 retards making a ton of noise at 3 in the night and 8 in the morning. Also there is quite some noise in the streets. However if you are lucky you will be fine with a great breakfast, great value for money and nice bed to sleep in.
This hostel is clean, cheap, and the staff are great! It's also in the heart of the coffee shop areas and red light district. I highly recommend this hostel to everyone.
Great place! will definitely come back
I've just returned from a 4-night at the Winston ('Deluxe Double Bed Private Ensuite'). The room was spacious enough and even had a tiny balcony (just for a smoke). We had a sofa in the room & table. The bed itself was a bit soft, but it was ok to sleep in. Blanket was big enough for 2 people to sleep in easily. The bathroom & room were clean. The entire experience was really great.I was really surprised with the breakfast: 4 / 5 choices of bread, 4 cournflakes, eggs, fruits, juice,,and more ... excellent breakfast! The location is perfect (in this cool street you have: restaurants, coffee-shops, stores), only 2 minutes walk to Dam Square (transportation to everywhere in Amsterdam) and ~8 minutes walk from Centraal Station. The hostel is secured at night (you have to show your room card upon entrance at night). There's even a elevator! which is a huge bonus in Amsterdam hotels. The noise from the pub downstairs wasn't a problem on the 5th floor. The only issue was with the fact that the door of the other room was just next to our door, and you think that when your neighbour opens his door, he actually enters your room. WI-FI available only on the reception & restaurant areas. I will definitely come back to this hostel in my next Amsterdam visit. The price, location, room & breakfast are just too good to be true in Amsterdam!
St. Christopher's Inn - The Winston Reviews from the Web
Great place to stay in Amsterdam, perfect location and friendly staff.
The bar seemed to be full of young people 18-25 but overall was a good vibe!
Really good location in the center. The pub downstairs is really good too. Downside is that it dont have a common room or luggage storage, so you have to rent lockers
Nice place and located very close to market......you can see a party happening every night......staff are also good apart from one lady who didn't have the courtesy to reply properly
Amazing location and good atmosphere
This hostel was great. The bathrooms were new and clean, and cleaned everyday. The beds were also made and fresh towels given every day. One downside is there was only one bathroom for a room of 6- could have been nicer to have more sinks. Security wise the place was good. Could get a little loud at night because of the downstairs bar. Was a great place to meet people and I felt very safe at all hours of the day as a solo female traveler!
ProsThe bar area in the hostel and hostel location were great.
Cons1. Paying 67 per night for a 6-person, no-frills dorm room seemed excessive, even for Amsterdam. 2. The room was way too warm. Because our room faced the street, my roommates preferred to have the windows closed. The small fan in the room was insufficient, esp for top bunks. 3. No organized bar crawls/activities. There was a general party at 10 pm in the lobby, but as a solo traveler, something more would have been nice.
Little expensive but super comfy beds with clean room and bathroom. Not great social areas for downtime as the reception is attached to the bar - which is great at night but difficult in the day. Nice outdoor terrace though and great location in the centre of town. Lots of fun vibes surrounding the bar area but maybe difficult for solo travellers as there weren't any staff led events.
My favorite hostel I have ever stayed at :) It was really nice having double security to get into each floor and your individual rooms. The bathroom in our room was a great size and the whole room was very clean. The cleaning people also brought us new towels and made our beds each day. The bar and restaurant downstairs was great because it was easily accessible and played amazing music. Ended up back at the hostel bar each night after going out because it was that good of a time. STAY HERE !
Amazing food downstairs in the bar and the rooms and bathrooms are super clean. Really great vibe in the hostel in the evenings however most people who are there arent staying in the hostel. Still great fun tho would recommend :)
Great Hostel for those who wants to party!
Friendly staff with a lively bar right on your doorstep. Clean rooms and great facilities which felt really secure. I stayed in a private room so perhaps would feel differently in a dorm room. The one thing was that the 7th floor was quite warm in the evenings with little air conditioning. But overall was a great hostel and would highly recommend!
Great place to stay. Very well located. Walking distance to most everything.
Took 40 minutes to check in and was told that there cleaning the room but when I walked in someone was already sleeping on the bed. So I find it hard to believe nobody was cleaning the room for 40 minutes when I was waiting in the lobby being told
My room is still not ready yet
I had the best experience as a solo traveler. I lucked out with my private room being tucked away at the end of the hall. Plenty of privacy, no noise from the bar, just the normal street shenanigans. It truly felt like a little oasis in the city where you can be social/recluse as little or as much as you want. Friendly staff, incredible location less than 10 min walk to central station. Pricey but worth it. Book direct for free breakfast!
My only hostel this trip that had AC in my dorm.
Anyways, tons of steps and in the 10 person dorms its extremely steep. I had lots of plans but after I went to a coffee shop and went upstairs I was done.
This place is right next to the Red Light District, like literally is in De Wallen and if I hadnt made sure I was in this area I would not have known it was the red light district. I didnt see a single window with a woman in it, but I didnt look for it either.
Rooms dark and had only one very small window - no ventilation and smelt like feet
But the deals on drinks and food were pretty good however Amsterdam is very expensive as a whole
This hostel is great for night lifeits right in the center of Amsterdam night life and theres even a pretty lively bar/club on the ground floor of the hostel. Though the bar is great, when its busy its quite annoying because you have to walk through the crowded bar/club to get to the hostel door. Best thing about this hostelbathrooms. The bathrooms very brand new, very clean, and very user-friendly. Annoying thingthe outlets in the bed compartments are very very slow.
The location and bar was amazing. The downside was that our hostel room was a mess. Usually this wouldnt be the hostels problem except the people we were staying with were staff and they had left the floors and bathrooms dirty. Additionally, there was one washing machine for the whole hostel so it was almost always busy. The hostel is nice but Im not sure its value for money.
