HI - Toulouse - Rsidence Jolimont Hostel is different since it is located inside a student and young worker residence that provides twin rooms with private bathrooms. It is possible to book a single bed and share a room with another person (same sex) -- that is why it is considered a hostel.
From the SNCF station Toulouse Matabiau, is it only one Metro stop away. Take the Metro line A direction to Jolimont and the hostel is just around the station, look for Residence Jolimont. Walking will take about twenty minutes.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The bedrooms on the fourth floor (which, if you are American, is the fifth floor) seem to be used for the HI hostel. Each bedroom contains two separated beds, two lockable wardrobe, a long desk, and two chairs. The bedsheets they provide are clean, thin, plastic-looking Easytex linen. There is a private bathroom with a shower and a separated toilet in every room. The window looks out to a busy street, so it is quite noisy even during the night.
Breakfast is optional and so costs extra; during the week, it is in the dining hall from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. and on weekend mornings from 8 to 9. There is a separate breakfast offered at the bar/common room area from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m., which we did not try. The breakfast is simple; it includes baguettes; butter; different jams; orange juice; and a coffee automatic machine that prepares espresso, milk coffee, and hot chocolate. A plus is definitely the croissants at the weekend and a nutella-like spread. Cereals are only available during the week.
Free Wi-Fi is available around the bar/common room area at the ground floor. There is also a computer with internet access for everyone that is free to use for fifteen minutes maximum.
This is definitely not a party hostel. Since the dorms are only for two people and since there are people living here who need to get up early for work, it is a little bit quiet and lonely. On the other hand, if you're looking for a clean, quiet, not-expensive place to stay in Toulouse, it is great.
Does its job
I stayed 3 nights in October '10 for a congress. One bathroom with toilets and shower in each 3 bed room. They give you paper sheets and bed linen. NB you have to insert you key card in a support to get electricity. Facilities -- free internet, coffee machines, dispenders. Helpful staff. They charge 20 euros / night including one - good - breakfast (crescent roll, excellent orange juice). Very good accessibility at one metro station from the railway station and a bike rental station nearby.
