With colonial, pre-colombian and african influences to be found in its food, art and customs, the culture and people here are just as diverse as their environment. Our hostel is within walking distance of the Pueblito/Calabazo entrance to Tayrona National Park.Behind the property there are many trails into the forest and up the Rio Pierda where you can find various natural pools and waterfalls. Some of the most beautiful beaches in Colombia are easily accessible and the town of Santamarta with its airport too.We also offer help planning your activities and making the most of your stay with us, at our front desk reception.
Our dorms and private rooms with their incredible vistas of the surrounding landscapes, are both spacious and comfortable. Each bed has a mosquito net and the rooms are well cooled by fans. Our dorms have their own en suite bathrooms and our privates have easy access to showers and toilets which while keeping you private are open to the countryside. Two of our private rooms have their own private balcony and our dorms have their own terraces. We have a camping zone and offer large tents with mattresses and bedding right in the shade of our mango plantation. All our lodgings and facilities are needed by our housekeeper. At Mama Tayrona we ensure that you are well rested ahead of tomorrow's adventure.

Location
• To get to Mama Tayrona you can take a taxi or public transport. A taxi will easily take you to the hostel by instructing the driver to go to Calabazo (the nearest village). We are 800 meters outside Calabazo on the troncal del Caribe(main highway), at KM21 coming from Santa Marta.
• If coming by public transport, take the bus to Santa Marta Centro, from which you can walk or take short taxi run to another part of Santa Marta center called Plaza de Mercado (Market Place) where you can catch the bus that goes to Parque Tayrona and Palomino and ask to stop at Mama Tayrona Hostel in Calabazo. This is the same bus tourists take to go to Parque Tayrona,
• If arriving by coach to Santa Marta coach station, take a taxi to Mamatoco where you can catch the bus to Parque Tayrona/Palomino and ask to stop at Mama Tayrona Hostel in Calabazo.
• If coming by car or motorbike from Santa Marta, follow the signs that say Parque Tayrona, Palomino, Riohacha. This will take you onto the Troncal del Caribe, after the tollbooth you will come to the village of Calabazo with its signpost that says Pueblito as you come out of the village, at 800m, you will see on your right the big sign indicating Mama Tayrona and the white entrance with the wooden gate.
