Antique House Hostel is very centrally located in Medellín's Poblado neighborhood. The hostel has limited common spaces, but still has a firendly atmosphere.
The location is one of the main highlights of this hostel, and it is right in the middle of the Poblado area of Medellín. This neighborhood has lots of hostels, restaurants, and bars; it's very lively on the weekends, when you can also hear street noise from the dorms.
The closest metro station is a twenty-minute walk away. The airport and bus terminals are either a taxi or collectivo combo away. The taxi from the airport to this hostel could take anywhere from thirty minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are spread across multiple floors in the hostel. The largest dorm room is next to the main common space, so you can hear people talking from the rooms. The rooms are spacious, and on arrival you are given linen to make your own bed. The beds are comfortable and have power sockets next to each bed.
The bathrooms are clean, modern, and have great facilities. The shower is very spacious and has cold water with decent water pressure. There is a communal bathroom right by the main reception.
The hostel has a cafe in the front of the hostel, which serves drinks and some cakes. There is also a small seating area next to reception, which also has some books to borrow. The kitchen is quite large for a hostel and has great facilities and kitchen equipment. There is a lot of seating in the kitchen for people to use.
There is a small balcony that faces into the street, which is mostly used as a smoking area. There is also a smoking area downstairs next to a small space that is used as a common space; this space does smell a lot like smoke due to its proximity to the smoking area.
As there is no central hub, the hostel doesn't have any overly social space to meet people. Due to its location and proximity to other hostel bars, it does still has a social atmosphere.
Antique House Hostel's location is great if you want to base yourself in the nightlife and foodie hub of Poblado.
