Sapa Moc Anh House is the typical example of a place that is beautiful and atmospheric, but without any soul as the owners do not put any effort into it. In fact, do not be surprised if you leave rather disappointed by the little you will experience from traditional life or by the lack of service you will be given.
The Location
Sapa Moc Anh House is located on the main street of Ta Van, a boutique village near Sapa. Do not pick this place as a cheap alternative to accommodation in Sapa; in order to access the village, you will have to pay a heritage entry fee! Although it is in quite a remote location, you will find most of the services here -- there is a market, some cafes and eateries, massage places, and taxi stands. There are also walking tours going around the nearby villages starting from here led by ladies in traditional dresses.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel consists of two buildings -- a lower and an upper one that are not connected inside. While the dorms are in the upper building, the only bathrooms and sinks available are in the lower one, which can get rather awkward if you want to have a shower but it is raining outside. The dorm is cute and reflects the traditional style, but is not really practical. There is one bunk bed that is supposed to hold four people, with one person sleeping above and three below, in pretty much the same bed! There is also not enough space for everybody to store their bags and there is only one electronic plug for the four people, which is really bad quality! Also, internet is almost nonexistent.
Common Spaces
There are two terraces belonging to the hostel where you can sit and chill; both of these have quite nice views. However, even though the place advertises itself stating that they offer self-catering facilities and a cooker, you will be told off and charged extra if you use the kitchen, as the owners want to encourage you to order from their overpriced menu. However, this is quite hard, as half of the time there is nobody around at the reception at all.
Summary
Sapa Moc Anh is a nice and authentic place in a very central location within Ta Van but with very basic facilities and owners who really don't care about their guests' comfort or providing quality customer service.

• When you get down the Sapa bus station , you can take the taxi for 200.000d/way
• or motorbike taxi for 100.000d/motor/way.if you go by train to Lao cai ,you can take mini van for 4$/person.
