The Location
This hostel has a great location, just in front of Nara Station, where there is an AEON supermarket and some restaurants. It's easy to find, as it is in a corner and there's a clear sign outside the building. It is very easy to walk everywhere in Nara, so you can easily get to Nara Park and other attractions. There are many restaurants and convenience stores nearby.
Rooms and Bathrooms
When you arrive, you get a brochure with all the information about check-in and -out, as well as the password for the dorm and main entrance. The private rooms for two include either a shared shower room/toilet or a shower room/toilet. There are also dorms -- an eight- and an eighteen-bed mixed dormitory as well as a female-only dormitory
In the shared dorms, the bed is a box with a curtain for privacy and the big locker is located inside the box right behind the bed. There are also hangers, lamp, and plugs. The shared showers and toilets are clean in general. The shower is a proper room with a dressing room area and the shower cabin. Hot shower and amenities are available -- including shampoo, body soap, and conditioner. There are hair dryers and slippers for the guests’ convenience.
Common Spaces
In the reception, there are general maps with information about Nara. There is the main common area (open to the public) where the bar and restaurant; vending machines; and free coffee, water, and tea are located, and a second small one at the back (mostly for guests) with a few seats and tables and some books. There is an area for free luggage storage and washing and drying machines. In the other floors, outside the dorms, there’s a fridge, microwave, kettle, and a sink. There’s a rooftop as well with a nice view of Nara Station and it's a good place for socializing as well.
