• Bay Guesthouse is located directly on the Caribbean Seafront.
• To get here from Hewanorra Airport (UVF):
• From Hewanorra Airport, (UVF), you have 3 main choices, (4 including a helicopter!)
• The more expensive but straight forward method is to take a taxi directly to Bay Guesthouse, Bay Street in Gros Islet. It costs around USD 80.00.
• The second way is for us to arrange a pick up by Poly for you. He’s a minibus driver who offers a 'taxi' service to our guests at a lower price than a taxi. He can meet you at arrivals for US$ 60.00. Please let us know if you would like to book the transfer.
• Or the least expensive option is to use the local minibus network. Try to obtain a street map of the capital Castries from the tourist office before leaving the airport. You will have to take a taxi from the airport to the bus stop, tell the taxi driver you want to get the minibus to Castries he should drop you off on the South side of the airport on New Dock Road in Vieux Fort, this should cost around 15 EC$ or US$ 6.00. (The taxi drivers might try to tell you that there are no minibuses so they can drive you all the way and get more money). The bus route from Vieux Fort to Castries is route 2H and costs US$ 3.00 (EC$ 8.00) However, if you have more luggage which takes up other seat(s) the driver will charge you more. Get off at the end of the route in Castries . That portion of the journey usually takes over an hour and a half. Use the street map you got at the airport to find Darling Road where the bus park for route 1A is located, (or if you give the minibus driver a few Eastern Caribbean dollars he will drop you off outside the 1A bus stop). Route 1A takes you from Castries to Gros Islet and costs US$ 1.00 (EC$ 2.50) each, plus luggage if it takes up a seat (this portion of the route will take about 20-30 minutes).
• On arrival in Gros Islet, the bus terminates outside "Castros Pub" (you'll know when you get there as the bus turns around to go back and you'll be the last ones on!). From here walk towards the seafront (straight on from the direction the bus came) and when you get to the sea turn right down Bay Street . We are the orange building at the end (2 minutes walk).
• As you can see the minibus is cheaper but will take longer and is a bit more complicated, especially if you have lots of luggage. Our tip is to sit next to the windows on the driver side - you are getting on at the start of each route and getting off at the end of the route so you don't have to move to let people on and off and have EC$ coins or small notes to pay as the bus drivers don't usually have much change for larger notes
• To get here from Castries George Charles Airport (SLU):
• there are 2 ways - the most expensive but more convenient is a taxi (about US$ 25.00) and there are always plenty of taxis at the arrivals.
• However, the less expensive method if you are travelling light is the minibus. These are very regular and great value. To catch the bus its a 15 minute walk parallel to the runway, turn right at the end of it, then at the roundabout turn left (with the airport behind you) and find a safe place to wait for the minibus to stop - simply stick out your arm. You need to look for a minibus with Route 1A on the front and ask him if he is going to Gros Islet - once inside the bus the ride will cost you US$1.00 / EC$ 2.50 per person (if your luggage takes up a seat they may charge you for that too, at the same price as a person). Stay on the bus to the end of the route (it usually takes between 20 - 30 minutes) - where the bus stops, empties of passengers and the bus turns round (outside Castro's Bar). There pay the driver, either in US$ or EC$ - have small notes or EC$ coins to pay wherever possible. Then walk in the direction that the bus was going: toward the sea. When you get to the seafront turn right, walk down the pavement with the sea on your left until you reach the end of the street, there is Bay Guesthouse, it is the only orange building on the seafront. We will be there waiting to welcome you.

• However, the less expensive method if you are travelling light is the minibus. These are very regular and great value. To catch the bus you need to follow the waterside into Castries, then after a 5 minutes walk you will find a market on each side of the street. Go behind the market on the right side of the street to Darling Road where the line 1A buses depart for Gros Islet. Once inside the bus the ride will cost you EC$ 2.50 per person (if your luggage takes up a seat they may charge you for that too, at the same price as a person). • To get here from the speedboats at Rodney Bay Marina:
• Either take a taxi (about US$ 10) the taxis are waiting by the entrance gates. Or the buses stop outside the marina, (wait on the nearest side, just left after the gates) and wait for a 1A bus, it will cost EC$ 1.50 per person plus whatever space your luggage takes up, Stay on the bus to the end of the route (about 2 minutes) - where the bus stops, empties of passengers and the bus turns round (outside Castro's Bar).
