Arenal Container Hostel is really nice and social hostel built from old shipping containers, in a good location close to everything you need. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and as an added bonus they have a little hostel doggo.
The Location
The hostel is located along the main road into the town where most of the accommodation options are. It is around a ten-minute walk to the other end of the main tourist zone. The bus coming into town will stop out the front of you ask them, otherwise it is around a five-minute walk from the main bus station. You have plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, and bars within walking distance, and plenty of options to book tours through the hostel or nearby. The staff are very helpful and friendly and always offering help and advice.
Rooms and Bathrooms
As the name states, it is a hostel made from old shipping containers, hence there are no windows, but there is air conditioning, which is a real treat in humid La Fortuna. The rooms are clean and cosy; as you can imagine being a container space is a little limited. The four-bed room is more comfortable, while the five-bed dorm is a little squishy. The rooms have their own bathrooms, which are spacious and have very hot water, an absolute blessing in rainy season.
Common Spaces
This hostel is quite small and open. There is an outside area that runs along the length of the dorms, there is enough seating for all the guests, and a very good book exchange as well as card and board games. It provides the perfect environment for guests to interact and hang out. The added bonus of this hostel is that they have a kitchen; it is quite tiny, but is fully stocked with everything you need to cook up a storm.

This hostel is the perfect place to stay in chilled-out La Fortuna, it is small and cosy as well as super clean with plenty of space to hang out and relax after your day's adventures. The staff are super helpful and offer a lot of tours and advice with all the insider tips you can hope for straight from the locals. This hostel is a very good choice when visiting this area.
