Valentine Hostel was created with the intention of providing the cheapest prices budget travelers can find in the area. The quality is decent, but the place is a bit boring with no style or anything that would truly stand out about it. The ability to use a fully equipped kitchen is definitely welcome, but the common spaces are few and tiny, and the number of bathrooms is not enough to cater to the needs of the number of guests staying here either.
The Location
The hostel is located only a few minutes from the railway station, so it can be a good choice if you are arriving by train. On the other hand, if you are arriving by bus, it will take you quite long to walk here from the bus terminal so in that case, you might want to take a tuk tuk. However, Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, one of Pondicherry's most impressive colonial buildings is right on the doorstep of the hostel while the promenade is only a ten-minute walk away. On the promenade and the parallel streets, you will find many classy restaurants and cafes, but in the direct vicinity of the hostel, there are not that many options to eat as it is mostly residential.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers dorms as well as other types of budget accommodation; this means that you might end up in a space divided from the corridor only by a curtain. While it is probably the cheapest place you will find around town, the dorm is extremely crammed; if it is full, it is really problematic to find space for everybody's backpacks. However, at least there are two electric plugs per bed, even if these are nearly impossible to access from the upper bunk. Interestingly, even though it is a mixed dorm, the owner goes out of his way to group people according to gender within the dorm. The ventilation is provided by a fan; however, it is often not working and when it is, it is extremely loud. There is one small window in the room, but when the curtains are shut, it becomes pitch dark inside. The bathroom is on the other side of the building. There is only one toilet and one shower for about twenty guests in case of a full house, which is clearly not enough.
Common Spaces
There are two choices you have if you want to socialise. You can sit in the sitting area that has a sofa and armchairs opposite the reception. An English-speaking TV channel is projected onto the wall behind the reception throughout the day so you can watch it from here. However, if you want a bit more peace, your best bet is to sit in the rooftop common area -- it is small but stylish, with a typical Tamil hut added to the rooftop. Unfortunately, this is also the smoking area, so if you are a nonsmoker, it might not be that ideal for you. The hostel also offers a kitchen for all guests to use with a kettle and microwave oven. Free tea and spices are also available here.
Summary
While Valentine Hostel is very average in many ways, with nothing making it truly special amongst hostels in the area, it is definitely very cheap and conveniently located, so if these are your main criteria, go for it!

• Guest if you are coming by bus just get down at the bus station and take a auto to reach my hostel with just Rs70 reasonable price .
• And if your coming by train till Pondicherry just come out of the station cross the road and take the opposite road and take the 2nd left you will see the hostel with bamboo plant outside .
• Any urgent help, please call us directly.
