Zostel Kochi is a decent budget hostel for a couple of nights in Fort Kochi. Check-in from midday, check out by 10 a.m. Groups of eight or more people are not allowed, and groups of more than four are separated into different rooms.
The Location
The hostel is easily accessible from Kochi airport. The bus takes one-and-a-half to two hours and drops you less than five minutes' walk from the hostel. Alternatively you can pay to take a taxi.
Once in Fort Kochi, the hostel is less than five minutes' walk from multiple places to eat, as well as the traditional Keralan Kathakali Centre. It's around ten minutes' walk to the nearest ATM, and a fifteen-minute walk to the Chinese Fishing Nets and sea front. Tuk-tuks abound on the main road two minutes from the hostel, and these can take you to other parts of the city quickly.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms are clean with all necessary bedding. Towels can be rented for a few rupees and there is a laundry service available for a charge. The lockers are full size and can fit an entire backpacker rucksack as well as a day bag. However, you need your own padlock or you can rent one from the hostel if you don't have one with you.
The cheapest dorm room is very small, but ok for a couple of nights; it's got good air conditioning and fans. The other dorms are a bit larger. If you opt not to have an en suite bathroom, then the bathroom is one floor up on the roof. This bathroom is fairly clean, but often has a few bugs and never any toilet roll. The water is always cold, but this is not a bad thing when it's usually so hot.
Common Spaces
There are lots of spaces to chill out and chat with other guests, including the rooftop, a table and chairs on the first-floor balcony, bean bags inside, and lots of comfy chairs. All the indoor common spaces have air conditioning or a fan, or sometimes both. You can buy water and refill your bottle any time for free from the filtered water coolers. Wi-Fi is free and works across the whole hostel. The only issue with having so many common spaces is that there is no central point for lone travelers to meet up, so you have to be proactive!

Overall, this is a fairly basic but perfectly adequate place to stay for a couple of days.

• On The Bus Way To Fort Kochi, Get Down At Njaliparambu Junction Where You Will Find Happy Camper Hostel. From The Bus Stop, Walk Back Close To 50 Meters And On Your Left Side You Will See Amritha Health Centre. Take The Road Which Is Opposite To The Amrita Health Centre And From There, Walk Straight Towards The Police Quarters Side And You Can See The Zostel Boards. Just Follow Them And Eventually You Will Find The Property With Zostel Sign Board On It.
