De Cameron Guest House is a guesthouse run by a local Indian family. The hostel owners are friendly to their guests, but are of little help when asked about tourist recommendations in the area. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the entire compound.
The Location
The hostel is conveniently located opposite the main Tanah Rata Bus Station, where all long distances or local buses depart and arrive. There is a plethora of food options along the shops right by the doorstep of the hostel. However, as the hostel is located along the main street, the noise coming from moving vehicles or human traffic can be a bother.
The hostel is also located near the taxi stand, where guests can grab a taxi to visit local attractions. It is not easy to hail a taxi on the roads, as taxis in Tanah Rata do not plow the streets. Hence, guests can easily get access to a taxi by visiting the taxi stand for their taxi.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms do not come with air conditioning; however, this is not a major issue, considering the cold weather of Cameron Highlands. Dorm rooms come in a variety of beds; the smallest has three beds. It is important to note that in the case of the three-bed dorms, the ceiling for the room is slanted and very low, which can pose a problem for taller guests. One of the bed also comes in the form of a mattress laid on the ground with no bed frame.
Bathrooms are shared among the different dorms. There are hot showers, but toiletries, hair dryer, and towels are not provided. The cubicles are clean and well maintained with modern, Western-style toilets.
Common Spaces
There is a small TV lounge on the second level with few seats and a TV. Guests are free to use the board games and movie DVDs that are available. The dining area serves free traditional Indian food and sauces as breakfast in the morning. The breakfast tastes delicious, as it is home made by the hostel owners.
There is also a small coffee table outside the hostel, but the chairs are worn out from exposure to rain, and Wi-Fi signal is not strong.

De Cameron Guest House is a great place to stay for travelers visiting Cameron Highlands. Its location right opposite the bus station makes it extremely convenient for travelers to catch their buses. All of this, coupled with great service, free breakfast, and clean beds, makes the hostel ready to meet the needs of any traveler.

Description
De Cameron Guesthouse is a place where travelers can feel at home away from home. During your stay you may even become part of the family! You can easily find restaurants, shops and activities right ‘on our doorstep’, hassle free.
We have a kitchenette on the premises where free coffee, tea and Breakfast will be provided and common areas where you can relax and unwind after a fun filled day. WiFi, TV, and laundry services will be available.
A tourist tax of RM 10 per room per night is applied to all foreign guests. This tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid upon check-in. Guests with a valid Malaysian Identity Card or valid permanent residents MY PR Card are exempted.
