Attic Hostel Torino Reviews

The hard-to-fault Attic Hostel Torino offers a friendly, comfortable atmosphere with great facilities in an excellent, central location.

The Location

Attic Hostel has a convenient location near the Porta Nuova train station in central Turin. The hostel is on the fifth floor of a secure building; access is via elevator to level four, then up one flight of stairs to arrive at the hostel reception.

There are many attractions located within a fifteen-minute walk, including Piazza San Carlo, the Egyptian Museum, the Royal Palace, Mole Antonelliana, and the Cinema Museum. Plenty of shopping, restaurant, and bar options are also available within the nearby vicinity, such as around Via Roma and Via Po areas. The nearby metro station offers connections to the airport and around the city. Parking is not available at the hostel.

Rooms and Bathrooms

This small hostel features eight rooms, including private single/twin rooms and mixed dorm rooms for four to six people. The rooms are kept clean and tidy, and feature sturdy bunk beds and decent mattress/linens. There are individual power sockets and reading lights at each bed; in addition, each bed has a nifty switch for the central room light. The rooms need to be vacated by guests from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for daily cleaning.

The security in the hostel is quite good. A series of keys are issued for access into the building, hostel, and the rooms, provided for refundable deposit. There are large cage lockers within the rooms for use with padlocks supplied.

The shared bathrooms are split into separate genders, with two shower cubicles and toilets in each. The showers have good hot water and large shower heads, though there isn’t a separate section within the cubicles to change. Towels are provided free of charge.

Common Spaces

The kitchen and adjacent lounge/dining area serve as the common spaces in the hostel. There are good self-catering facilities in the kitchen for cooking and food storage, for use during reception hours (8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily). Breakfast is not provided, but there are plenty of cafes nearby. The small lounge/dining area is a popular spot for the mostly young guests to gather in the evenings, making for a fun social atmosphere. Free Wi-Fi works well throughout the building. Other facilities include laundry service for a small fee, and free luggage storage during reception hours.

Summary

At this family-run hostel, the amiable Attic staff are genuinely interested in making your stay in Turin as good as possible. This hostel is deserving of its high ratings and good reviews, which does mean it can book out in advance -- so book early during peak times.

Description

Attic Hostel is located in the heart of Turin’s historical centre, within easy walking distance of Turin’s Porta Nuova railway & Metro stations.
The hostel is a short walk from many of Turin’s most famous monuments and museums
(Piazza San Carlo, the Egyptian Museum, the Royal Palace, the Mole Antonelliana, the Cinema Museum)
as well as key pedestrian routes and green spaces, such as Parco Valentino, which is situated on the banks of the Po.

The penthouse (Attic) has been completely restored in 2017, and has reached class A.
In fact, even if all the rooms are equipped with heating / air conditioning it is not switched on
because the roof has been very well insulated!

We offer 25 beds (we preferred quality over quantity) in 8 rooms
across a wide variety (single, double with and without private bathroom, twin and dorm )
suitable not just for younger travellers and students, but also for families and more senior globe-trotters.

We aim to combine the advantages of a hostel with the comfort of a hotel and the warmth of a home.
The atmosphere is very familiar and welcoming, for sure it is NOT a party-hostel!
In the evening it is good to share the table and food with people from all over the world,
and immersing yourself in stories and cultures from all around the world.

We have laundry service, a printer and a PC for guests,
a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, umbrellas for rainy days,
many comics and books also in foreign languages,
a guitar, CDs and recording tapes, book-crossing.

you can also ask at the reception :
- additional pillow
- mail service (please send tickets / small items from us but remember to mark name, surname and put c / o Attic Hostel)
- laundry service
- earplugs (if your roommate started snoring...)
- bottles of water
- luggage storage (free for the day of check in and the day of check out)

BREAKFAST
Unfortunately we do not have permission to cook for guests
and we could only offer pre-packaged snacks,
but on the ground floor of our building there is a renowned patisserie
and next to it a bakery that produces fresh pizzas and focaccia,
delighting us with sweet aromas. ..we have therefore chosen NOT to offer breakfast.

Often guests do it themselves in our large equipped kitchen where there is for free :
organic tea, coffee, olive oil, vinegar, spices, salt and sugar.

more informations:
- BEDS:
The bed is already provided with a bottom sheet and pillowcases.
You will also find a towel for the shower and a second sheet (upper) that you have to spread over you, before covering with the quilt.

- BATHROOMS:
In the corridor on the right you will find first the men's bathroom and immediately after the one for the women
In the showers, with light inside, the curtains are for privacy only and the glass doors are for the water: use both!
In the disabled bathroom there are only curtains, so at the end you are asked to pass the mop on the floor to dry out any water.

Finally, please, always remember to TURN OFF THE LIGHT!
Thanks a lot.

- DAILY CLEANING
In cleaning hours (10.30 -13.30) you are not allowed to stay in the sleeping area (dorms and common bathrooms).
Only those who have a private room can choose to renounce daily cleaning, but must not interfere with cleaning or exit when the corridor is wet, both for security reasons, and for respect to those who are working.
