Cocoon City Hostel is the most amazing place to stay in Chania, if not all of Crete!

The Location

Cocoon City Hostel has a great location, only a five- to ten-minute walk from the main bus station to go anywhere in Chania on the intercity buses. It's not far from the local bus hub either, if you are trying to get to Souda Port or other beaches around the local area. The nearest beach is about a ten- to fifteen-minute walk away, as are all the shops, restaurants, and charm of the Old Town. There is a supermarket close by too if you want to cook.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms here are large and spacious, and the bunk beds are really comfortable. Each bed has an assigned locker to it with a key that you are given on arrival. There are separate bathrooms for girls and boys; each large bathroom has four shower cubicles and four toilets. They are kept impressively cleaned by the staff and are a luxury to use.

Common Spaces

The main common spaces of the hostel are the living area and the kitchen. The living area is at the front of the hostel with the reception and has loads of tables and chairs to sit and relax and meet people. They also have an impressive book collection if you are planning on doing any beach reading, and there is a TV as well to watch with movies connected also.

The kitchen is large and well-equipped with everything you need to cook a good meal. The best part is they have a dishwasher, so any plates, cups, and bowls you use go straight in there -- no need to wash anything except pots and pans. There is also ample fridge space and a breakfast-bar-style bench in here for eating.

Summary

This is one of the most welcoming and comfortable hostels that you will find in Greece, let alone Chania. The service is superb and the owner and staff are incredibly kind and helpful people. The reception hours can be a little touch-and-go, so make sure that you let them know if you are arriving out of hours, so they can give you the door code to let you into the reception. This place offers an excellent stay and is highly recommended. We wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Location

• By Bus: Take the bus to the KTEL central bus station. After getting off, exit on Kydonias Street, take a left and walk two blocks west to Margouniou Street and we are located on the corner of Kydonias & Margouniou.
• Airport: Take the KTEL bus outside the airport (check departure times) and get off at the last stop which is the Central Bus Station. From there follow the above instructions to reach the hostel.
