• In Mirissa: Once in Mirissa village, head to Cargill's Supermarket or ask a local to point out the Ice Plant on Galle Road. From here, head inland (away from beach) along Yatipila Road for about 150 metres. JJ's Hostel is on the left. Look for the black and white sign. We are walking distance from both Mirissa bus stops (less than 500m). A tuk-tuk should cost around $1-1.50.
• From Matara: Take the 346/2 (Weligama) or 350 (Galle) bus from the main bus stand. Get off at Udapila Junction, Mirissa. Continue walking in the same direction as the bus then follow the directions above. Bus fare will be $0.50. 20-30 minutes.
• From Galle: Take the 350 (Matara) or 02 (Matara) bus from the main bus stand. Get off at Mirissa Junction stop. Continue walking in the same direction as the bus then follow the directions above. Bus fare will be $1.00. 50-60 minutes.
• From Airport:
• - By Taxi/Transfer: If you have pre-arrange your transfer, your driver will meet you in the arrivals area of the airport. If you wish to take a taxi, they can be booked after the arrivals area or once outside the airport gate. It is better (and cheaper) to pre-arrange a private transfer.
• - By Bus: 1. Take airport shuttle to Colombo bus station. $1-2/pp. Exit airport and turn left and walk past the end of the airport building. Look for the large a/c buses on your right about 100m away. Departs every 30-60 minutes between 6am and 9pm. Times can vary slightly. 2. Once at the Colombo bus stand, find the main road, cross it at the pedestrian lights and walk left about 250 metres. On your right will be the long-distance bus stand. At the very end of it in the far corner will be a large a/c bus taking the highway to Matara. They leave approximately every 30-60 minutes. $4.00/pp. 2.5-3.0 hours. Once in Matara, follow the directions above.
• From Colombo:
• - By Bus: Go to the long-distance bus stand (Bastian Mawatha). At the very end of the bus stand in the far corner will be a large a/c bus taking the highway to Matara. They leave approximately every 30-60 minutes. $4.00/pp. 2.5-3.0 hours. Once in Matara, follow the directions above.
• - By train: It is possible to take the train from Colombo Fort station to Weligama station (5km from Mirissa). Trains leave irregularly and can be very busy. $2.00/pp. Generally only 2nd and 3rd class seats are available. 2nd class is recommended. From Weligama, either take a tuk-tuk ($3.00) or get the 346/2 or 350 bus to Matara from the bus stand 150m away. $0.50.
