Hospedaje Los Chocoyos is a relaxing hostel with a sunset view.
The Location
About an hour-and-a-half drive from the ferry docks, this hostel is beachfront and has an amazing view of the sunset. It is located away from the towns and restaurants, so it is quite secluded. There is not much around, besides another couple of hostels and another restaurant. Most drivers know where this hostel is and can find it. There is a bus that goes past on a not-so-great schedule. Pedal bikes are not a great option to get around on the roads either. The hostel is very close to the set-off point for kayaking in the river. It is not close to the hiking point for the volcano hike or the waterfall.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are two cabins -- one with two single beds, one with a double bed. There is a main building with two more rooms and two dorm rooms. The rooms have windows with screens on them, and the beds all have mosquito nets. The rooms are quite basic and cozy, the dorm rooms have about four bunk beds in each room. There are two toilets and two showers on the property which are very well maintained and clean. The showers both have places to put soap and hangers to hang clothes.
Common Spaces
There is a restaurant that serves up a great breakfast, which is included in the price, but the rest of the day the menu is lacking a bit. There is one other restaurant a couple doors down. The main seating area has one big picnic table and three other tables and chairs. It has two hammocks hanging as well as a couple chairs set up to watch the sunset. It is quite a sleepy area with not much to do at night. Beer is available as well as rum. It is very quiet at night with the sound of the waves.
Summary
This hostel is a great place to relax and getaway from the everyday, it is a long journey here and away and can be expensive for a shuttle to get here. The hostel keeps a tab of everything spent and tells you at the end. There are bikes and motorbikes to rent as well as kayaks on the property. The beach is a bit rocky but it's a great place to be.

Location
• From Moyogalpa Port/Airport by car or taxi:
• From Moyogalpa or Las Brisas you need to drive southeast to El Quino, then turn to the right to Santa Cruz & and turn right again to Merida where the Catholic Church is, 300 meters down to the lake. In this sense, tje trip takes around one hour.
• From Moyogalpa Port/Airport by bus:
• There are several services by bus from Moyogalpa to Santa Maria. The trip is more or less like the one by car or taxi, but the trip takes more time, around 2 hours with public bus.
