Inn 14 is a modern, friendly, clean, and safe hostel. The space includes both great common areas to socialize in and fun sleeping "pods" for privacy. There's good Wi-Fi throughout the building, a bustling shopping and restaurant area outside, and a metro stop only 15-20 minutes away by foot. Note: There is no elevator. You will have to carry your luggage up at least two flights of stairs, though the receptionist will probably help. Makes this a bad choice for any handicapped travelers.
Inn 14 is located on a busy street with all kinds of places to eat and shop. Just below the hostel is an ice cream place (Mado) and a fairly inexpensive lahmacun and doner restaurant. There are several different markets within a few minutes walking distance. The metro is a 15-20 minute walk away (only one turn), and the stop is on a line that connects to the center of the city (Kizilay). The hostel has a bright yellow sign that's easy to spot.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are multiple heated and air-conditioned rooms. Rooms consist of male, female, and mixed dorms for four or eight people, as well as some private single and double rooms. The dorms have shared bathrooms. The highlight here is the beds, a sort of sleeping "pod." Each guest has a bottom or top bunk with a private flat screen TV, a pull-down desk, an outlet, and a thick curtain for full privacy. The space is roomy enough that you can sit up fully. As for storage, each guest has a large drawer under the bed (not locked) as well as a pin-code locker. This provides plenty of storage space, though it should be noted that the lockers have a bad, sweaty smell. Beds include sheets, a pillow, and a thick comforter. Each room has a hot water maker and a small refrigerator. Rooms are unlocked with a room key (each guest's key only unlocks their room and the bathroom).
The bathrooms (one male, one female) have two toilets, three showers, and two sinks. They're adequate, though comfort can be an issue. The showers work well (hot water is good), and each shower has a soap holder inside and one hook outside. Hand soap is provided at the sinks, as well as a hair dryer. On the negative side, there is a strong, bad smell in the bathroom, and the sink spaces and floor are often soaking wet with water (the showers flood the floor).
Great spaces! There's a small kitchen with tables and chairs. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of dishes, a microwave, a panini maker, and silverware. Coffee, tea and water are provided all day. On the top floor, there's a room with two couches in front of two large TVs, a long table, and stools alongside bookshelves, with a handful of old books. This floor also has a big terrace with outdoor seating and a great view over the city. The common spaces provide a lovely social space for friendly guests. Some nights people are up talking and watching football until 3:00 am. Other nights are quiet.
Overall, a super hostel. Facilities are new and mainly clean. You can feel comfortable and safe here. The common spaces and the beds are the highlights. The only issues are with the bathroom (smells, shower flooding). The reviewers would definitely consider returning to Inn 14.
