Arthy's Guesthouse is a small hostel that caters mainly to guests in private rooms, although there are a couple of four-bed dorms. This is a calm and quiet hostel (the midnight curfew discourages any partying!) that is conveniently located near the bus station and a number of tourist attractions.
Arthy's Guesthouse is located on a busy road, just a ten-minute walk from the bus station. Walking down this road toward town will take you past a large market (Mercado Lanza, a five-minute walk), San Francisco church (a seven-minute walk), and finally to the artsy Sopacachi neighbourhood (a half-hour walk).
The hostel is close to a number of tourist attractions. The market area containing artisanal goods, tour agencies, the witches market, and coca museum is a ten-minute walk away. The Calle Jaén museums are within a five-minute walk. There are a few party hostels nearby for those wanting a drink, although the hostel is locked at midnight.
This is a loud and busy area and because of this it feels quite safe: however you should always be careful with your valuables. While it is not advisable to walk alone at night, the street is busy with people and cars even late a night.
The hostel is easy to miss -- it's just a metal door with a sign above. Upon entering the hostel, you need to climb a few flights of stairs to reach the reception and rooms.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms are basic but pleasant enough. The dorm has the advantage of being bunk bed-free and fairly spacious. All beds come with clean sheets, two pillows, and plenty of warm blankets. There are a few charging sockets in each room, and the dorm contains large lockers for backpacks.
Toilets and showers are located on the bottom floor (most bedrooms are on the floor above). Two large rooms contain cubicles with plenty of showers and toilets. As with most of the hostel, the bathrooms appear quite dated but are clean and in good working order.
Arthy's Guesthouse has a good range of common areas -- a small communal kitchen; a dining area, and a seating area with television. The style is quite old-fashioned -- it looks like it hasn’t been redecorated for a few decades! However, it somehow feels quite charming and cosy. There is Wi-Fi throughout the common areas and bedrooms, although it can be slow at times.
Arthy's Guesthouse is conveniently located within walking distance of the bus station and central sites in La Paz. It is a calm hostel, with a midnight curfew discouraging any partying. It has good facilities -- a small kitchen and plenty of showers and toilets. The decoration is a little dated, but this is quite charming and the hostel has a cosy feel. Arthy's Guesthouse is a pleasant and convenient place to spend a few days in La Paz -- as long as you’re not looking to party!

An extremely kind and fun owner! Rooms are very clean, unfortunately they don't have breakfast, but can recommend a very nice place nearby (Banais!). A very nice "living room" too.
It is a pleasant place, clean, organized and a safe place to take up quarters at in La Paz. I believe that it is an excellent option, because it's right next to the tourist center of the city. The kitchen is very well equipped, with refrigerator, microwaves, stove, plates, places setting, cups, pans, at last, all the necessary things to make fast plates. The hostel still has a TV room and a reading room, a quantity of DVDs and a fireplace. Finally, it has the gentility and attention of the employees. It is managed by a family. I leave here with my sincere gratefulness for the gentleness I received and the friendship of Ruben and his family.
Welcome to South America, to Bolivia, to La Paz and to ARTHY’S.
