This hostel is in a great location. Just a 2 minute walk from the train (cable car) station. Literally, you walk out of the station, turn right, up some stairs (not too many)and then right again at the top, and you can immediately see the sign for the hostel. (Also, if you have luggage on wheels, you can walk past the stairs n then turn right up the hill to get to the same place.)
Braunwald is a car-free resort, so everything is readily accessable, with shops and a cash point (ATM) only a minutes walk away. The only problem is that the cable car that takes you to the closest town (Lithal-where you can get the train/bus from) only runs every 30 mins. The nearest gondola station (to take you to the top of the mountain/pistes) is less than 5 minutes walk away, and the others aren't much further.
The hostel itself is really nice, and has a great atmoshere. The bar seems to be busy all night long, and all the people there are really friendly. You can arrive quite late at night (at least 11pm) and still be able to check in.
The rooms are lovely (ours was more like a hotel than a hostel) and if you're on the right side of the building, you get a great view too! The rooms close to the bar must get a fair bit of noise at night, but you could always request a room further away from the bar.
The prices weren't too bad either, but you do have to pay an extra fee (20 CHF per room)if you only stay one night. Breakfast isn't included either, but for the 8 CHF its definitely worth it as they do have quite a lot of variety.
They had on offer -
Tea,Coffee, Milk and Fruit Juice
Bread, Jam, Cheese
and it's eat all you want, so you can really fill up!
You also pay more for linen (5 CHF) and towels (10 CHF) if you don't have your own.
The bar there is really cosy, and the prices are fairly good for a swiss ski resort. They do quite a good variety of food too, tho it is mostly pizzas. The only problem is that they don't start serving food until 6pm, which is not soo good when you're starving after a hard day of skiing/snowboarding.
Hope this helps, and enjoy your time there, we did!
