Usgar Machupicchu Hostel Reviews

Eco Machu Picchu Pueblo is more bed-and-breakfast than hostel. There is no atmosphere in common areas, but the rooms and bathrooms are very nicely decorated and it is a pleasant place to spend a night or two during your Machu Picchu trip.

The Location

Eco Machu Picchu Pueblo is located on a side street in the Las Orquideas area. When arriving by train or foot, you will need to cross one of the bridges over the Aguascalientes River to reach the hostel. Although all of Aguas Calientes is very touristy, there are slightly more locals in this area and some cheaper restaurants. A large handicrafts market is nearby. Aguas Calientes is small, so everything is walking distance from here, although accommodations on the other side of the bridge may be slightly more convenient since they are closer to the path and bus stop to Machu Picchu.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There are private and dorm rooms available. We booked the cheapest option available and were placed in a room with just three beds! Rooms are clean and nicely decorated, with bedside lights and charging sockets. There was also a working television in the room, with a range of channels (all in Spanish).

En suite bathrooms are modern and come well-stocked with toilet paper, soap, and even shampoo sachets! Showers sometimes produce hot water, but the hot water supply is not reliable.

Common Spaces

A downstairs common area contains a few sofas and facilities for making tea. Upstairs is a communal eating area where a simple breakfast is served. Unfortunately, breakfast is served from 5 a.m., which is too late for those people wanting to arrive at Machu Picchu for 6 a.m. (whether traveling by bus or walking, you will need to leave between 4 and 4:30 a.m. to be in for sunrise).

There is Wi-Fi in common areas and in the dorm room. The Wi-Fi often does not work for iPhones. There is no real atmosphere in common areas; people tend to keep to themselves.

Don’t expect any atmosphere, but Eco Machu Picchu Pueblo is a convenient place from which to base yourself for your Machu Picchu trip. The rooms and bathrooms are nicely decorated and well-kept. There are pleasant extras such as soap, shampoo, and tea-making facilities. Downsides are the unreliable Wi-Fi, shower temperature, and awkward breakfast timings.

Usgar Machupicchu Hostel Reviews from the Web

Slow check in, wifi didnt work in the room, and its really loud at night. That being said, it is affordable and clean so a good place to stay if you are just around for one night and on a budget.

Hard to find but overall fine. Pretty good room and board.

It was ok for one night, but I would not recommend it. It was very noisy until late in the evening and early in the morning. Sleeping was only possible with earplugs and a sleeping mask. Location close to the train station and to the bus terminal. Showers were warm and beds comfortable, breakfast is good. There is only one key for a multi-bed room so they are always open unless the whole room is booked by a group. If you want to get to Machu Picchu rested, you should go somewhere else.

I booked the main hostel but got moved to the boutique building, meaning I was separated from other travellers which was annoying. The room was comfortable and super clean, guy on the front desk very helpful. Breakfast was rubbish and the woman serving looked like shed rather be anywhere else. Overall a good bet though.

Aguascalientes is very small, however we were right next to the line that happened every night by the locals to catch the train. There was noise all night with kids screaming from the line and people coming and going from the hostel to use the bathroom etc so not the most secure. The room was very clean and so was the bathroom. Breakfast was nice and staff was very helpful.

Everything you need for your visit to Machu Pichu. The village is small so every place is close. Clean and most comfortable beds during my stay in Peru. For a couple of hours the water didn't work and refilling the toilet paper was no priority.

Great place with friendly staff. They gave us snack breakfasts for the hike in the morning. Was a great time!

We only stayed one night for our visit to Machu Picchu, it was definitely a great little place to stay the night. Very clean, quiet, and in a great location. It was a short walk to the vibrant market, train station, main square, and just over the bridge to the busses that take you up to Machu Picchu. We had an early departure to Machu Picchu, just before 6am, and the streets were well lit and there were already quite a few ppl out and about. The receptionist was very helpful.

It was really nice time spent in Usgar! They have a delicious breakfast!

Simple with sparse but fun decor in a few places, comfy beds, and convenient access to explore town without being too in the middle of all the action. While there was no lock on the entrance door nor the rooms, I didn't feel unsafe. And while the hostess spoke minimal English, she had a breakfast and snack bag ready for me behind the desk once she understood that I was going to Machu Picchu too early in the am for the complimentary breakfast! One charging outlet in room of 8 was weak, though.

My bed did not have a locker, which is weird. I didn't use it this time cause only had a backpack but I didn't like that Beds are ULTRA COMFORTABLE. Big, soft and thick. Rooms of 4 beds, very good. I would change the bathroom door though... it's crystal and you can see the shadows of the people inside.... not so nice. Also in the night or morning, the bathroom's light will wake u up.

Pretty good spot to spend one or a few evenings for your hike up to Machu Picchu. Okay breakfast. Not really much of an atmosphere but there's friendly ish staff.

Friendly staff, super comfy beds, wide windows, good location, clean

Amazing hostel, clean, friendly and they even packed us breakfast for MP because we were leaving at 4am. Highly recommend!

Very good place. Staff super helpful, 5 minute walk to the train station. Not a lot of social spaces, but everyone is only there for the Machu Picchu anyways so that doesn't really matter

Made me a packed breakfast for walking to machu picchu cus i had to leave too early for breakfast.

This place was great. Spacious and clean, and had everything we needed. Breakfast in the morning was great.

Absolutely fantastic. So so clean! Lovely comfy beds and hot showers. Staff really friendly and helpful. Great location -walking distance to San Blas and town centre. Best place we have stayed in South America!

Liz was very nice and helpful. The room, bed, and bathroom were all clean.

Stayed only one night and everything was perfect. Very clean and shower with good pressure! Thanks a lot! You guys rock!
