Meh ... not a pleasant stay
no air conditioning at all. maybe this is a common thing in London, idk. Furthermore the ventilation in general was poor / nonexistent. If they at least had some box fans in every window to keep the air circulating it would have been much better. My room was much much hotter than the temperature outside, at all times, this persisted all three days i was there even throughout the night with the windows open. The windows didnt even open all the way you could only crack them. Trying to sleep in a puddle of your own sweat is never fun. poor construction. There were many inconveniences resulting from the poorly planned construction of the room. Light switches for the bathroom was outside the bathroom ... why?? so a roommate turning lights off as they leave the room, accidentally shuts off your bathroom lights, and you have to open the door and go around the corner to turn them back on. Why would they build it like this?? And my power outlet was located in a good spot next to my bed but it was built into a little shelf which was so close to the port that my adapter would not fit. I wanted to rip that stupid shelf off. This was extremely inconvenient. i also didnt like how i had to give my ID as a deposit for the room key. No other hostel ive stayed in had this policy. I mean hello, maybe i want to drink tonight, i might need my ID. It's just inconvenient, inconsiderate. one of the female bartenders at the wombar was very rude. I was trying to use a credit card for a drink but there was a charge for anything under 10 pounds. So i asked if i could open a tab and come get another couple beers later to increase the total over 10 ... she instantly was impatient and acted like she didnt understand was trying say. There has got to be better places to stay in london for 50 pounds a night.
Best hostel I've ever stayed at. And considering the usually low standard of hostels in London -- that's pretty amazing. Spacious, clean, awesome bar downstairs, good shower, great location, wonderful terrace. A little pricey of course, but worth every penny. Even if the prices went up with 25% I would choose to stay there again.
Hostel = Hotel!
This hostel is brand new and also very clean, it has the quality of a standard hotel. There is a nice underground bar with a table pool and a table football. They arrange some activities in the evenings so that you can meet with others. Plus there are USB plugs to charge your electronic devices (so you don't need a UK converting plug) and there are lockers closed with your room card, very helpful!
