Mad4You Hostel Reviews

If you find yourself on a small, seemingly forgotten side street of Madrid, just step through the door marked "Mad4you" and transport yourself into a wonderful atmosphere of camaraderie and relaxation at Mad4you Hostel. This hostel offers excellent services for an even more excellent price!

The Location

Mad4you Hostel is located within walking distance to the heart of Madrid. It's easy to get to, thanks to the city's selection of bus and subway service. The hostel is located on a one-block, one-way street with very little parking available. Mad4you Hostel is very clearly marked so we had no difficulty in locating it.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Mad4you Hostel has a variety of rooms from which to choose -- rooms range from private to eight beds, and most come with a private bathroom. There is also the option to request a female-only room. Lockers are available in each dorm. Because the locks are built-in and require a key, it is required to request the key at the reception desk for a deposit. Rooms are accessible by individual card keys. Bathrooms are spacious and somewhat clean, and most have room to hang or store a few items.

Common Spaces

The most popular common space is in the center of the hostel. While it is surrounded by the four walls of the hostel, it does not have a roof, making for a nice outdoor area. It can get a little loud in this area, but quiet hours are enforced. The reception room also features a sitting area, city information, and one guest computer. The kitchen is large and features all the dishes, facilities, and storage needed to make your own meals. Breakfast is also served in the kitchen, which is buffet style and plentiful. Overall, the hostel has a social atmosphere that provides opportunities to get to know other travelers, especially younger ones. Many people like Mad4you Hostel so much, they spend their entire time in Madrid socializing in the common spaces!

Summary

There are a lot of options when it comes to find a hostel in Madrid. Some are in a good location, and others come at a good price. Mad4you offers the best of both worlds. Don't be intimidated by the appearance of the street. It is a safe location with friendly folks and backdoor access to the best of Madrid!

Great place with great staff!

This hostel is a great place to stay! The neighborhood has a lot to offer, it's in the cooler, hipper side of town; close to bars, restaurants, and shopping (if you're into that). Madrid as a whole is easy to navigate by metro and there are two stops very close to Mad4You. The whole staff has been very friendly and helpful, from the the front desk to the cleaning/maintenance staff. There was a hiccup with one of my bookings and it was taken care of immediately, I was upgraded for no extra charge. Both times I've stayed I've arrived a little early, first time with my lady, our room was cleaned next and we were allowed in a little early. The next time, when I was alone, I was allowed to drop my bags off in my room a little early. One morning my lady and I woke up a little late and the staff member cleaning the kitchen pulled everything back out for us with no hesitation, he said that we had to start our day with a good breakfast. The hostel itself is very clean and up-to-date; good showers, good beds, good kitchen, and good vibe! I'm mad for Mad4You, I will stay here again and again!

Great location, helpful staff

The hostel is in a lively neighbourhood with cobblestone streets and heaps of restaurants and bars, mostly frequented by locals. It is only a short walk to three metro stations and easy walking distance to Puerta del Sol, so very central. There is a nice courtyard and the (included) breakfast is ok, the standard fare. The staff are helpful and friendly. The vibe of the hostel seems fairly quiet. The only negative aspect was the pushy free-walks people, who would bang on your door at nine or earlier in the morning, trying to drum up business for their "free" walking tours or pub-crawls. They kept banging until someone got up and opened the door. Not appreciated if you've been out until two or three in the morning (ironically, on one of their pub tours in my case!). They would also interrupt your breakfast to do the same thing. This is one thing I think the hostel staff should look at. Otherwise, good value for money and I would stay there again.
