Kokopelli Hostel Paracas -- this seaside hostel -- is lively, in a great location, and the perfect place to stay whilst visiting Paracas!
Located toward the end of "the strip," this hostel is perfectly nestled among restaurants, bars, and other accommodations whilst also having a beachfront! You can walk out of the back garden onto a beach, which is cordoned off just for guests' use. Paracas is small, so everything -- including small supermarkets, cash points, and the port from where you might be taking day tours -- is a short walk away. The hostel is massive, clean, atmospheric, and has great facilities.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The dorm rooms have lots of beds and are very spacious, but they have individual lockers, curtains, lights, and plug sockets. They're essentially self-contained pods with a great deal of privacy. Some rooms have an en suite, which is a great addition, but in a fourteen-bed dorm just one toilet and one shower doesn't go far -- luckily, there's plenty more just down the corridor.
The bathrooms and rooms are exceptionally clean with bins emptied regularly and floors swept; in the bathroom, hand soap is refilled and toilet paper replenished. Although they look small, the bathrooms are clean and feel very new and spacious.
There are so many common spaces at Kokopelli Hostel! When you arrive, there's the reception area with a tour booking office, luggage storage room, and lots of chairs so you can lounge around as well. Going further into the hostel, there's a lovely swimming pool surrounded by swinging chairs, sun loungers, and tables with chairs. There's a quiet zone, which is a large lounge area equipped with computers, plug sockets, a television for which you can rent DVDs, and loads of comfy sofas. Out back, there is a large restaurant/bar/dining area where you can play table football, pool, giant jenga, or simply eat or drink. Although there isn't a kitchen, breakfast is included (it's simple, but you can upgrade by paying a few soles for eggs, avocado, or yogurt) and the on-site restaurant serves nice food for a decent price. Every night there's an event, whether it's ladies night, dancing night, games night, or Jäger-bomb World Cup!
Another cool thing about this hostel is that upon check-in, you play "Spin The Wheel" with the opportunity to win a free pisco sour, a discount at a sister hostel, or upgraded breakfast throughout your stay ... and there's many more prizes!
This hostel has it all -- cleanliness, great facilities, a good atmosphere, and great location with both swimming pool and sea/beach access. There's a book exchange, paddle boards and kayaks are available to rent, and much more! If you're in Paracas, definitely stay here -- you won't regret it. Negative things include being able to hear the music in your room (of course, if you don't want to party, it's fine). And there aren't any laundry facilities, but the staff will point you in the right direction to a hostel down the road, which you can use for laundry!
