Podgorica Hostels

The Review

Montenegro Hostel Podgorica is a convenient hostel based in a detached house with big rooms and a huge garden. People usually spend only one night at most in Podgorica, either when they arrive to Montenegro or when they are leaving. The train journey from Podgorica to Belgrade is famous for its amazing views. And there are quite a few travelers who overnight in Podgorica and catch the day train to Serbia in the morning. For this purpose, the hostel provides a decent option.

The Location

Montenegro Hostel Podgorica is located close to the center of the city. As Podgorica is not a very big city, it is fifteen to twenty minutes' walk to the bus station and the train station, which are across from each other. The hostel itself is in an alley in a quiet residential area. The hostel is also near the Moraca River that passes through the city. With its very clear waters, it becomes quite attractive in summer to go and have a quick dip or enjoy a drink by the riverbank. The river flows in a valley though, so you need to ask the staff where is closest place to get down to the water level.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The dorms are on the second floor of the house, and there is a bathroom on each floor. The bunk beds are a bit worn out, but it is in general a comfortable hostel. All the beds have privacy curtains and the guests are provided with a key for a personal locker in their room and a clean towel.

Common Spaces

Common spaces are quite roomy. The first one is the big living room area, which is also where the reception desk is. There is large-screen TV and a dining table in the living room, and two couches. Adjoining the living room is a very well-equipped kitchen. The guests are free to cook their meals in the kitchen. The best part of the common areas, though, is certainly the big garden, especially if you are there during the warmer months.

Podgorica is not a city high on any traveler's radar, and the hostel choices reflect this fact. Nevertheless, Montenegro Hostel Podgorica is a good option for anyone passing through the city and who would want to give it a chance.

Montenegro Hostel Podgorica is in a good location and is perfect for travelers on a budget. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and helpful, but the common areas -- including bathrooms -- could be kept cleaner. The Location The hostel is located two hundred meters from the bus and train station and a ten-minute walk from the city centre. It can be a little hard to find without asking a local or getting a GPS location, as it is hidden away in a quiet residential suburb. However, it is quite convenient once you know where it is. If you take a cab from the airport, make sure you have the address or screenshot of the map ready to show the driver. The hostel also offers free parking for those who have a car. When you arrive at number twenty-five, walk through the gate and you will see a small laminated sign above the door apartment building with the name of the hostel on it. The hostel is located on level two. Rooms and Bathrooms The hostel has four-bed dorm rooms and private rooms with a shared bathroom. The rooms have been newly renovated and are very clean and quite spacious, despite a low-level roof. Guests are provided with pillow, towel, sheets, and doona. There are ample plugs available in each room and lockers for guests to store their stuff. The bathrooms are large and clean enough but the shower and toilet are not separate. The hot water is hot and there are hooks to hang your towel and clothes. Common Spaces The common room is small but has a comfortable atmosphere and a small verandah attached. The kitchen is also quite small but is fully equipped, with a stove, fridge, and free coffee and tea. These areas could be kept cleaner, but it's to a satisfactory standard. There are brochures, maps, and information books about Montenegro all over the hostel. There is one computer available for use and the Wi-Fi connection is strong and fast. The hostel has a homey vibe and is a nice place to relax at the end of the day. Summary This hostel is good value for money. Guests are provided with all of the essentials and a comfortable and relaxing space. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is not a party hostel but certainly has a social atmosphere.
Excellent small homey hostel. Spacious, clean. Outstanding staff.
Excellent location 10 minutes from bus/railway and city centre. Good size rooms and bathrooms. Access to proper kitchen and to PC. Very clean. Good common room. Small (10 beds) homey feel with outstanding staff who every day went the extra mile to help guests. The warm and friendly staff made this the best hostel I've stayed in on this trip and wholeheartedly recommend it.
