Victoria House

The Review

The Victoria Meublé Hostel is located in the center of Nice Ville, ten minutes away from the train station, a few blocks away from the beach and from the old town. It is a lovely neighborhood, safe and colorful.

The Location

It is difficult to get to the hostel, because the only sign is right on the building, so instructions on how to get there may be useful. Arriving to “Gare de Nice Ville,” walk left from the train station until reaching “Av. Jean Médecin.” Turn right on the avenue and follow it until Place Massena. The tram is a faster way to get there, as it drives through “Av. Jean Médecin.” Once in Place Massena, turn left on “Rue Gioffredo,” A block away is a little street called “Passage Gioffredo,” where the hostel is located. The big, green door on the left side takes you to the reception, where you will find Valerio, the manager -- young man who receives every guest with a soda or a beer. He tries to make everyone feel at home and will be glad to help out with every need.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Every room has two bunk beds, a closet, a desk, a little fridge, a little kitchen, and an ensuite bathroom. The bunk beds are made of aluminum, which means that they may be a little noisy, but the mattresses are extremely comfortable. The closet is divided in four sections, one for every guest in the room. Sill, each section is different than the rest. A guest may get the space to hang up clothes or a drawer. It is random, as every section has its own key, given by the manager. The kitchen inside the room is pretty useful. It is not very big (two stoves and a sink), but for four people it’s enough.

The bathrooms are really small. It seems unbelievable that in such tiny spaces enters a toilet, a sink, and a shower. Still, the shower always has hot water and good pressure. Sheets and towels are included.

Common Spaces

The reception is used as the common space. It's not really big, but it is comfortable enough. It creates a chilled mood between the guests and the owner. Breakfast is not included, but there are a lot of bakeries nearby. Wi-Fi is free for guests who own a laptop; if not, you may use the computers in the reception for a cheap price.

Victoria Mublé Hostel is a good hostel hidden in the streets of Nice Ville. Although it is not easy to find, it is worth the trouble. The great atmosphere and the apartment-like rooms make the guest feel almost at home. It may not be the best hostel in town, but it is definitely one of them.

Located at 2nd floor, a tiny lift and smelly stairs
The staff are friendly and the room is fine. The place is a little bit distance from train station if you decided to walk to the accommodation but close to old town and bus stations. The place is located in a small lane and on 2nd floor, the small lane and staircase are a bit smelly.
This is the first negative review that I've had to give a hostel. We were sadly misled by reviews saying that this hostel was a good place to stay. There was no common area where you could meet other travelers and socialize, cook together. The hostel is set up in an old apartment building. It was old and rundown. The room was small and cramped. The bathroom was the size of a small closet with a shower where you only have room to stand. When you got out of the shower you were bumping yourself all over the dirty walls in the bathroom. The toilet flushes so loudly that you dare not use it at night or it will wake up the other people sleeping in the room. The room and bedding were dirty. I saw a large insect crawl in and out of cracks in the room's small kitchen area. The alley outside was loud at night. We stayed in many hostels in Europe and Thailand and this one was by far the worst of the whole trip. When we left the person working there asked us to write a good review of the hostel because the rating of the hostel had been going down. We couldn't mislead fellow travelers.

the dorms have a bathroom and kitchen facilities, warm friendly staff, ex location at place massena. highly recommended.
