5 stars (tops)
This place is tops. Great location as the tram stop and ferries are at the bottom of the street, making an easy hop to anywhere, and Istiklal with its great eateries are within walking distance at the top. Staff was very friendly and really helpful. I'd definitely stay there again.

Great hostel with lots of personality
Stayed here for 2 nights & had a great time. Great location, great people/staff & loved playing with the little kitties. The room was clean, comfortable & nicely decorated.

Stray Cat Hostel is set in a six-floor building at the newer center of Istanbul. The place is welcoming to travelers and cats -- but don’t worry, it’s not packed with the latter, and they come around mostly in the evenings. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The common area is a little small and gets crowded during breakfast hours. But it’s also a good opportunity to meet other guests. The Location It’s located in the district of Beyoglu, Istanbul’s commercial and entertainment center. It’s about fifteen minutes by tram to Sultanahmet, where the main attractions are. The street is on a steep hill, and it’s busy during the day, but becomes quieter at night. There are shops and restaurants nearby, and the main shopping street is at walking distance, where you can also find many bars and places to eat. Expect to use the tram at least twice a day. Rooms and Bathrooms The hostel offers private bedrooms for groups of three or four as well as doubles and singles. There are dorms with four or six single beds. The dorms have individual, medium-sized lockers with keys. Each floor has two bedrooms that share a toilet and a bathroom. Some bathrooms are only a cubicle with a shower, while others have also toilets and space for changing. Overall it’s a quite clean hostel. Common Spaces On the ground floor there is a living room with some books left by other travelers and guides of Istanbul for borrowing. There are a couple of small tables and a few chairs of the size they use in kindergarten. There isn’t a computer only for guests, but they may borrow the hostel’s laptop when it’s not in use. Wi-Fi is free, but you won’t get a signal on all floors. There are no cooking facilities either, only a sink and a larger table where a breakfast buffet is set every morning. Summary Stray Cat Hostel is overall a good place to stay in Istanbul, whether you look for nearby party spots or a quiet stay. Since the common area is on a separate floor from the bedrooms, you will hardly be annoyed by the noise if anyone decides to stay up late. It’s not so close to most of the main attractions in the city, but a tram ride is quick and easy, and the area is safe and well served by shops and entertainment. It has a good, relaxed atmosphere and the staff are willing to help.
