The Location
Le Petite Auberge de Saint-Sernin boasts the most central location for all the hostels within Toulouse, having a good position close to the University of Toulouse. Attractions located within a 15 minute walk include the Basilique Saint Sernin, Capitole Square, Victor Hugo Market, and Saint-Pierre Square. Plenty of café, restaurant, and bar options are available in the near vicinity, many of which are at student-friendly prices. The main shopping areas in the city’s centre are also only a short walk away.
The nearby metro station of Compans Cafferelli offers connections around the city, along with a shuttle to the airport. The main train station is a twenty-minute walk away. Parking is not available at the hostel. The hostel is on a somewhat quiet street, so there is little traffic noise overnight.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel features dorm rooms for four to eight people (mixed or female). Rooms are spread across multiple levels of the building, accessible by stairs or elevator. The rooms are kept clean enough; though with limited floor space and no luggage storage areas, they can tend to get untidy with guest belongings. The wooden bunk beds are sturdy, but the mattresses seem a little thin. There are several power sockets in the rooms fitted with multiple adaptors; however, these are not located by the beds themselves.
The security in the hostel is decent. There are two separate keycodes for the front entrance gate and door, with keys provided to guests for their hostel room door. Small lockers are available in the rooms for use with your own padlock or bought from reception; these do not fit medium or large bags.
The rooms have private bathrooms inside, with a shower and toilet in one room. The bathrooms, while kept clean, are showing their age. There is also a unisex shared bathroom on each floor as needed outside the rooms.
An interesting feature is that each room has a small kitchenette inside, with kettle, microwave, hotplate, refrigerator, sink, and basic cookware/cutlery/crockery.
Common Spaces
With each room having a kitchenette, there isn’t a large kitchen for self-catering. Breakfast is not provided at the hostel, though coffee is available for purchase from reception. There are couches in a common area on the ground level, with entertainment including a piano, guitar, Super Nintendo, computer, and book exchange. This is adjacent to an outdoor courtyard which serves as a smoking area. A small common room with couches is located on the top level of the building; this doesn’t seem used much (at least not during our stay), so it offers a quiet space for those who find it. The free Wi-Fi connection is a bit spotty, with strength varying depending on location in the building. Other facilities include laundry service for a small fee and free luggage storage during reception hours.
Summary
Le Petite Hostel is a decent option for a short stay in Toulouse, with a good price to match. Note that reception is not open twenty-four hours, with check-in unavailable during the day from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. and in the evening after 11 p.m.

Description
We are pleased to welcome you in our small and cosy hostel in the heart of one of the most charming cities of France.
The reception will be open daily from 10:30 to 12:30 am, 2:00 to 8:00pm.
Please read our conditions to know what to do if you arrive after 8 pm because reception will be closed.
We have dorms of 4, 6 and 8 beds. Each dormitory is equipped with full sanitary facilities and a kitchenette (hotplates, sink, refrigerator, pots ans pans, plates and cutlery).
The hostel is located in the city center and has easy access to all forms of public tranportation.
Our location puts all of the city attractions well within reach, so you can experience Toulouse life at it's fullest!
We are 7 minutes away on foot from the main Capitole square and 10 minutes from the river and the Saint-Pierre square well-know for its bars.
Every morning (except monday) a big market take place on the boulevard a fews blocks over.
Just next door you will find a quiet little public garden with ping pong table and basketball hoops, and a little bit further you will reach the beautiful Japanese garden of toulouse.
After a long day visiting Toulouse you will be able to relax in our commun area and enjoy our patio playing piano and guitar, or having a barbecue.
Instruments are available at reception as well as basket ball, ping pong paddle and some other usefull things as iron board or hairdryer.

• From Matabiau train station/main bus station: with the underground, take 'Ligne A' towards 'Basso-Cambo' and stop at 'Jean Jaures', and change for 'Ligne B' towards 'Borderouge'. Stop at 'Compans Cafarelli'. Follow the exit 'Cite administrative'. Walk into 'rue Lascrosses' (not 'boulevard Lascrosses'!) until the small roundabout. Turn left, you are in 'rue d'Embarthe'. Our hostel is number 17.
• From Toulouse-Blagnac airport. Take the airport shuttle and stop at 'Compans Caffarelli'. Then walk into 'rue Lascrosses' (not 'boulevard Lascrosses'!) until you reach the small roundabout. Turn left, you are now in 'rue d'Embarthe'. The hostel is located at the number 17.
• From Toulouse's main square: 'place du Capitole'. By foot. Walk into 'rue des lois' until you reach a small roundabout. Turn right, this is 'rue d'Embarthe', the hostel is on the left hand side, number 17.
