Only Recommended if You're Too Drunk to Care
For $34+ USD per person in a 3 person private room, this was a rip-off. The mattresses stink, the pillows are old and lumpy and they stink, too. The couches in the common areas smell horrendously of cigarette smoke so we couldn't bear to use the wifi unless we sat at the tables. In addition, there were three kinds of ants crawling all around our room, and the one can of insect spray at the hostel was ... empty. I realize this is in the rainforest, but it was a bit much inside a $100 room. We chose the hostel for the backpacker environment but could have/should have gotten a hotel room for the same price and a much nicer situation. The hostels we've stayed in throughout southeast Asia and Europe were far better for less money, even in poor countries like Cambodia. On the plus side, the room was cleaned daily, and toilet paper was supplied. Breakfast was not bad. Also, the bus into Quepos and Manuel Antonio stops directly across the road -- super convenient. And all the staff we met was terrific -- very friendly and helpful. The staff was the best part of Pura Vida. Otherwise, forget it!

Great view, friendly staff
Surrounded by luscious flora on the hill heading towards Manuel Antonio, made some great connections with other travelers. The kitchen area was nice and always clean. The owner was very friendly and often would help us find activities both day and night. They even keep cold cervezas for purchase at a reasonable price.

Good
This was your typical hostel. The rooms were fine and the other facilities were ok. It was what you expect to get for such a cheap price. They had fast Wi-fi and the owners were pretty chill. Overall a good experience.

The absolute BEST hostel Ive ever stayed at!!
Clean, very friendly, bilingual staff, great social area to meet other travelers. My spanish is very bad but Emerson made us feel right at home. I would recommend this hostel to ANYONE! If youre in the Quepos/Manuel Antonio area then you have to stop in for at least a few nights.

Ranks among the best I have stayed in!
Clean, very friendly staff, in a quiet part of town, this hostel is perfect for the backpacker who is looking for rest away from the crowded, touristy downtown center of Quepos. I am impressed with how clean it is! Lockers are provided at no charge (bring a lock) and they are plenty large. Free wifi. Free breakfast. There is a restaurant right next door, and you are strategically very close to Manuel Antonio so you can beat the rush to get there in the morning. For $10, it must be the best place to stay in Quepos!
