The Review

Vagabonds is probably the best hostel in Belfast -- it has great facilities, a very cool vibe, simple rooms, and a good location.

The Location

Located in the Queens Quarter, the hostel is fairly central. It is close to the university, but still a good fifteen minutes walk to Donegall Square, Belfast's City Hall, and the very center of the city. The bus station is just five minutes away and Botanic Train Station is less than three minutes' walk away. The area is filled with supermarkets, small shops, and restaurants.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There are several floors with different types of rooms from which to choose. The dorms are very simple. Space is limited -- there is only one light for the whole dorm and the bunk beds are simple. There is underbed storage. Towels are not included but can be hired. These are your basic dorm rooms.

The bathrooms are located within the dorms and include separate shower rooms and toilets. The shower rooms are quite spacious and also include a sink and mirror.

Common Spaces

These are the hostel's strength. Common spaces are plentiful, clean, and beautiful. The reception and chilling area is spacious and has a very cool vibe to it. There are several funny maps as well as a world map that has been pinned by previous hostel guests. There is a common living room with cosy sofas, book exchange shelves, and a TV and DVD player. There is also a fully equipped kitchen for use and a beautiful eating room. The kitchen might not be spacious enough for many people to make meals at the same time. Breakfast is included every morning and consists of tea, coffee, toasts, preserves, and cereals. Tea and coffee is available all day.

Perhaps the best common space, though, is the outdoor area -- it includes an American pool table, a foosball table, BBQ area, several benches where you can chill in the summer, and a smoking area. Lots of country flags decorate the outdoor area nicely.

All common spaces are very clean. Laundry facilities are also available and Wi-Fi is free throughout the building.

The hostel is located inside a big old house but is indicated by a sign. You need to ring the bell before you are allowed in at night and there are surveillance cameras for an added sense of safety. This is a very good hostel for people who are looking to socialize and do not plan to spend much time inside their room.

The staff were extremely friendly welcoming us and were ready with an answer for any questions we had about the area. The hostel was very clean and comfortable. We were only there for one night, but would 100% stay there again!

Vagabonds is the best decision you could make!
When we walked through the doors, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff and visitors. We were basically treated like family from then on. Told to make ourselves at home. To have something to eat from the kitchen, to stow our bags till our room was ready and to relax with fellow travelers. There were so many people just hanging out and meeting new people. There were such a mix of people. From all walks of life and backgrounds. There is a very chilled environment throughout the hostel, so much so that you feel like you are straying over at a friend's house. If that isn't enough, they also have fun activities such as pool and table tennis which I love, and is a casual way of chatting with others. In the evening, as a group many went out on a pub crawl, headed by the hilarious manager. Just like a large reunion, except everyone had just met. Overall it was a blast. My only disappointment was that I was only there for one night!

Pleasant staff, poor beds
The staff at Vagabonds were very helpful in getting me acclimated to the hostel and the city. The beds, however, were the worst I've slept in. I could feel each individual spring poking at me. For the price, I was expecting a bit more.

Wonderful People, atmosphere, location, everything!
The staff were the nicest, the atmosphere was awesome and social. Art on the walls and stickers and pieces of travelers past. I couldn't have been more happy. The sheets were already on the bed, the kitchen was great and free breakfast. I can go on and on but the bottom line is, if you come to Belfast and don't stay at Vagabond's, you're doing it wrong.

Great relaxed place
The facilities were great. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful. The place oozes atmosphere and the kitchen is well equipped. Breakfast is included. There is lots of space to sit and relax. Location wise it's not right in the center of Belfast but still well located. Definitely one of my more favorite hostels from my journeys and one that I would definitely recommend.
Vagabonds is a great option for budget travelers looking for a clean bed and a social experience in Belfast. The Location Located just off the main square, Vagabonds is in a safe neighborhood and easy to locate. The main bus station is only a ten-minute walk away from the hostel. Food and convenience stores are located nearby and the hostel features a kitchen for use by guests. Rooms and Bathrooms The twelve-bed mixed dorm was served by under-bed crates that allowed guests to use personal locks to secure belongings. However, due to some of the beds overlapping, certain beds have difficulty removing and accessing these under-bed storage crates. Also, guests with large amounts of luggage will struggle to fit their belongings within the crate, although the hostel may offer other options to secure luggage. Other room options include private rooms (double and twin) and dorms of four, six, eight, and twelve beds. Showers are shared and may not be located on the same floor as a guest's room. The room and shower facilities are very clean. Shower water pressure is great and there are no problems with hot water. Common Spaces Vagabonds offers several common space areas including a TV room, patio, and guest kitchen. The TV room located on the main level of Vagabonds features a book exchange and is eccentrically decorated with many pictures. The main common room also has ample seating by introducing large cushions and bean bags in addition to chairs and couches. The common room is small compared to some larger hostels, yet fosters a fun atmosphere to connect with fellow guests. The guest kitchen might be cramped for some cooking tasks, but is functional for small meals and offers a complementary breakfast consisting of cereal, oatmeal, and toast. Coffee and tea are available all day. The hostel also has two computers for guest use -- thirty minutes is complimentary and after guests must pay for use. Wi-Fi is free. Summary Vagabonds can be recommended on the basis of its cleanliness, location, and social atmosphere. A great value for the cost, Vagabonds would be a great option for travelers to consider when visiting the Belfast area.

One of the best hostels around
Vagabonds is literally one of the best hostels around. The staff go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. It has a family atmosphere with a great kitchen, dining room, and lounge. It is also very clean (a nice change compared with most of the hostels in Belfast). Having stayed in hostels all over Europe, I would highly recommend this hostel.
