HostelChe Hostel is a quiet and well-located hostel that provides travelers a decent place to sleep, kitchen facilities, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, and ample tourist information. It's a great place to stay if you are looking to walk and explore the city; there's lots of popular food and drink places nearby.
The Location
The hostel is easily reached by foot or bus from the main bus station. From the airport, the hostel is better accessed by taxi for a small cost. The hostel is located in a safe neighbourhood close by to the main street and restaurants and bars below. You can hear the church bells ringing each hour, as the church is located opposite the hostel. The hostel is well located for walking to popular stops in Belgrade.
Rooms and Bathrooms
There are three rooms in the hostel -- one with four beds, one larger (with seven beds), and one private bedroom. The rooms are spacious and well kept. The rooms don't have a lock, but the hostel feels secure as it is within an apartment building that is always locked (you’re given a key). The hostel entry door also requires a key. Each bed has a pillow and sheet plus a towel on request (for free). There are power outlets in the room, however they're not located directly next to each bed. There is a fan and wardrobe with hanging space for clothing; each bed has a small locker for personal use, but no lock is provided. There is a toilet room with basin as well as a bathroom/laundry with toilet, shower/spa, and washing machine. These bathrooms are kept clean and tidy.
Common Spaces
There is a kitchen with access to free tea, coffee, and rakija (fruit brandy); breakfast (cooked by the staff upon request) is available for a small additional cost. There is a fridge and sufficient kitchenware items for full use by guests. Luggage storage is just underneath the TV in the sitting area.
The kitchen is joined with the living room where couch space, beanbags, and a TV are provided. These areas are clean and welcoming for guests. There is a PC with internet and Wi-Fi as well as additional power outlets available also. The reception is small but provides plenty of information regarding things to do in Belgrade, including maps.
Summary
HostelChe is a welcoming and quiet hostel located well within the city, only a short walk from most areas. The hostel is quite small, which limits the amount of noise and commotion within common areas. The hostel is easy to find and makes guests feel secure, within the city and also within the overall building. It's recommended for a calm and smooth stay in Belgrade.
