Best hostel I've stayed in so far -- would recommend
Rooms were great. Beds were comfy. Bathroom was amazing! So good to finally have a proper shower! Kitchen had everything you needed. Staff were super friendly. Do the bar crawl!! Its so much fun! And the overall atmosphere of the hostel was awesome. If you don't like to party, don't stay here. Best view from the terrace as well. The only bad thing is Croatian law states no noise after 10 pm but everyone just heads out at this time.

Hostel Villa Skansi can easily be the highlight of one's visit to Hvar, as the owners (Julia and her husband) will welcome you with the typical embracing Croatian hospitality. Located underneath their villa, you'll check in at the "reception," which is simply a desk in their living room. Walk out onto the porch, which is filled with large comfy chairs and a big family dining table, and you'll be able to see the Adriatic just a little ways away. The Location Villa Skansi is nearby both methods of arriving/departing from Hvar Town. If you take the ferry from Split, you'll arrive in Stari Gard and take the bus to to Hvar Town. If you take the high speed catamaran, you'll arrive at the port in the Hvar Old Town. Be sure to let Julia know if you're arriving via bus, and she'll pick you up at the station. The hostel is also conveniently near the town, perched on the hill above the beaches and port. A five-minute walk will take you to the Old City, where the port is lined with restaurants and beaches. Should you get bored of Hvar, you can rent mopeds or motor boats from the hostel; with a large group, the boat is very inexpensive and a definite must. Rooms and Bathrooms The dorm rooms are clean and scattered around the villa. Most have six to eight beds, and all have very large ensuite bathrooms (one with a jacuzzi) and air conditioners. Should you need a blanket in addition to the pillow and sheet provided, Julia will be happy to help. The large shared kitchen has plenty of space to cook and eat. The private rooms are upstairs, and typically come with a terrace. Common Spaces The main common space is the patio, and most of the backpackers congregate here in the evening. Julia will come out around 8 p.m. and open up the bar outside, which is stocked with plenty of different liquors and even some (really good) local Hvar wine. This place is a great place to meet other travelers from around the world. As Hvar is off the beaten tourist path, most travelers tend to have an interesting story to tell. You'll start off drinking on the patio, meet some friends, and then go out to the local clubs till 5 or 6 in the morning. Summary Villa Skansi is not an experience to be missed while on Hvar. It's chill, relaxed, with great people and a great vibe -- you'll be glad you stayed here.
