Mom's Kitchen on the Beach, Sihanoukville

Mom’s Kitchen on the Beach has a name that tells you a lot about this hostel; there is more attention on the food served here than on the actual accommodation, but it is still worth coming here as the property is located right on the beach so you can just go straight from bed to the waves every morning!

The Location

The hostel is located in the Otres One section of the coast, which is currently undergoing a huge transformation. However, Mom’s Kitchen on the Beach is here to stay! As it's situated in an excellent spot from where you can see the whole bay and enjoy some amazing sunsets, it is such a bonus to have the sea about ten metres from the door of the dorm!

Rooms and Bathrooms

There is actually just one dormitory at this property, but it is huge! It offers individual beds in a row with a little bedside table next to them. There is not much style or ambience here, but who cares, because if you stay here you will likely spend most of your day outdoors anyways! The dorm is in a bamboo structure and it is quite nice as the wind blows through it and cools it down; there are fans available as well. While the dorm is above the restaurant, the bathrooms are on the bottom floor on the other side of the property. As most of the yard in between is sandy, it can get quite messy to shower and get back to your room. The bathrooms are quite basic but are still ok.

Common Spaces

The whole atmosphere at this hostel is incredibly chilled. In the center of the property, there is a huge bar that also functions as the reception and the place from where to order your food. There are plenty of tables for dining as well as some places to chill and lie down on closer to the sea. The hostel has its private section of the beach, so you don’t need to worry about it getting too crowded. There is also a pool table available for the guests’ entertainment.

Summary

If you are a foodie who is a fan of the seaside, you will love this place. However, make sure to keep your expectations low about the dormitory, as that is quite simple.
