Linda Guest House on the Santa Cruz Beach:
The beautifully designed Main Beach House built of local hardwoods, volcanic stone and bricks offers accommodations for 5 guests = 2 main floor bedrooms (one dbl bed and one sgl bed) an upstairs bedroom with a single bed, 4 way vista and balcony, a lounge with a single bed and Cable TV, a kitchen, separate warm water shower and toilet.
The Beach Casita is a smaller uniquely designed house with a bedroom with a double bed, lounge, kitchen, and bathroom with warm water shower.
Both beach houses have lots of screened windows & doors, ceiling fans, reading lights and the kitchens can be stocked with the basics for cooking including farm fresh eggs, fruits and veggies and also cold beer too.
The beach houses have real mattresses, bedding, towels kitchenware. We have beach chairs, rocking chairs and hammocks, an outdoor BBQ cooking area and newly constructed clay tiled rancho surrounded by lush tropical organic gardens.
The beach houses are surrounded by lush tropical organic gardens and a volcanic rock wall for privacy with just a step to the longest stretch of sandy beach.
We invite guests to sample from the gardens and always offer complementary desserts with a 3 night stay. Complementary filtered spring water.
There is a lot to do and see on Ometepe Island and we offer lots of pre-travel information and assistance with tours, activities and transportation too.
Balgue Lake Guest Houses:
Tony's Lake House is uniquely built with volcanic stones, locally made bricks and tropical hardwoods with lots of windows with metal grill protection. There are 2 plus bedrooms (one with a dbl and a sgl), a lounge, kitchen, storage area and adjacent bathroom with warm water showers and composting toilet.
The Lake House has unique stone detailing, and stone paved floors, painted roof and is surrounded by a tropical garden with volcanic rock wall right on Lake Cocibolca.
The Lake House has real mattress beds for 5 guests, ceiling fans, bedding, and kitchenware, small refrigerator and gas stove top. Complementary filtered spring water.
Lake Cabin with front and back porch for 2 guests with many screened windows with metal grill protection, double bed with real mattress, ceiling fan, small refrigerator, gas stove top and kitchenware.
The Lake Cabin has an attached bathroom with shower, sink and composting toilet.
There is a fence around the property and newly planted garden with lots of large shady tropical fruit & hardwoods.
Tony invites guests to sample from his gardens and offers hammocks and rocking chairs.
He offers an orientation on the small rural town of Balgue and his culture.
Tony is a local farmer who grew up on the slopes of Volcano Maderas where his relatives still live and farm.
He offers interesting informative tours to the prehistoric petroglphs, lookout and lagoon near the top of Volcano Maderas as well as shorter hikes to the farms, homesteads, and organic coffee cooperative at Finca Magdalena near Balgue.
Tony and his family can offer laundry services and meals with prior day notice.
There are several small shops and various restaurants along with WIFI cafes located in the small community of Balgue, also near to Finca Magdalena organic coffee cooperative, prehistoric petroglyphs and start of the hike to the lagoon on Volcano Maderas.
There are several buses a day traveling thru Balgue, plus taxi, horse, boat, bike, and motorcycle rentals nearby which Tony will help you to organize along with tours and activities.
Enjoy the island pace of life and take a tour with Tony to learn more about Nica farming, fishing, sports, cultural events and history - hike, bike, boat, horseback ride thru the natural wonders of this magical island.

There is limited banking on the island and only in the main town of Moyogalpa.
We only accept Cordobas or US dollars in smaller denominations (no taped, torn or marked bills).
Ometepe Island has many rural farming communities with only 2 main towns = Moyogalpa and Altagracia. There are 3 port towns including the 2 larger main towns and San Jose del Sur.
We are located on the isthmus between the 2 volcanoes (Volcano Concepcion - recently reactived & Volcano Maderas - extinct tropical dry and cloud forests).
Santa Cruz and Balgue are small communities located on paved roads and very accessible to all the activities and have great lake breezes all year long.
Most tourists travel to San Jorge port on the mainland near Rivas to take a ferry or smaller passenger boat to Ometepe Island - the crossing takes 1 hour.
There are lots of shared taxi vans waiting at all the ports.
