 Central Park

Huaraz, Peru, is a city in the Peruvian Andes, surrounded by many mountains and is therefore a perfect starting point for many day hikes or longer hikes in the mountains. It is also perfect for adventure-seekers who are interested in mountain biking, mountaineering, or climbing. The high season is from May to September and it slows down a bit after that.

There are a lot of tour agencies in the city that can help you organize the tours and a lot of the hostels in Huaraz, Peru, can also help you with all of that. A lot of the time the Huaraz, Peru hostels work hand in hand with the guides and tour agencies and can save you the hassle of trying to organize it yourself.

In Huaraz itself, there are not many tourist attractions to visit. The main ones are the archeology museum Museo Regional De Ancash in the city centre, and Wilkahuain ruins that are nice to visit by walking (you can also take a taxi). There have been some reports about robberies on the route, so it is safer to take a taxi!

The central market is a good place to stock up on all the necessary items if you decide to do the hikes solo. If you want to do the treks solo but do not have all the necessary equipment with you, there are plenty of rental stores around where you can rent pretty much everything.

In terms of sleeping, most of the hostels in Huaraz, Peru, are situated in the centre of the city. There are plenty of options around for budget backpackers to those who are looking for a bit more comfort and luxury. If you haven't booked anything in advance and are just arriving to the bus station, there are plenty of taxi drivers that will offer to take you to a hostel in Huaraz, Peru, or you can just find one yourself. Most of the hostels in Huaraz, Peru, are located close to the centre and are within walking distance from the bus stations. In the high season, it could be more difficult to find accommodation so you should book ahead.
