Negev, Israel is home to the Negev Desert, which covers the southern half of Israel. Here you can emerge yourself in beautiful, moon-like scenery. There are two cities at the edge of the Negev Desert -- Beersheba and Eilat. However, there is a big distance in between the sites, so if you want to explore the Negev Desert it is best to stay somewhere in the desert. There are a few small towns, but also accommodations and Negev, Israel hostels that are located in the middle of the desert.

When talking about Negev, Israel hostels, these are hostels that are located in the Negev Desert between the cities Beersheba and Eilat. Since this area is huge, you should decide in which part of the desert you want to stay, before booking a hostel in Negev, Israel. Many sites are close to the highway between Beersheba and Eilat, but some are a bit further east or west. Beersheba is the biblical city where Abraham settled with his family and is a good starting point of your trip. To the east of Beersheba, the Negev Desert stretches to the Dead Sea, which is worth visiting; the UNESCO World Heritage Site Masada Plateau is also a few kilometres away.

Ein Avdat -- on the road between Beersheba and Eilat -- offers one of the best sceneries in Negev. The steep canyon is breathtaking and is a great place for hikes. At Makhtesh Ramon, you can find the worldโ€™s largest natural crater -- this is another must-see when you visit the Negev Desert in Israel. It is close to the largest town in the Negev desert, Mitzpe Ramon. There are some Negev, Israel hostels in the Negev desert, but not many. As an alternative you can consider staying in a kibbutz, of which there are a few in the Negev Desert, too.
