Get to know Antibes (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Antibes.

Not far from the famous city of Cannes is a very pretty city, Antibes, which is on the coast of the French Riviera. It is a very popular destination during the summer for many French families on holidays with their kids, but it is also a great place for everybody to simply relax, enjoy the sea breeze, and take a break from the everyday life.

Apart from the stunning beaches, the Cap d'Antibes, and the port, there is more to see; for art lovers, there is the Picasso museum, which is actually where the crazy and very talented artist lived. For music fans, there also is an international Jazz Festival held in Antibes usually in July that lasts for about ten days. There is also a daily market (apart from Mondays) called Marché Provençal, which offers a wide selection of fresh food from meat and fish to cheese and vegetables.

There are plenty of options for accommodations, from expensive hotels to less pricey ones and also few Antibes hostels that are a good value for money. Those Antibes hostels are usually very friendly and quiet with dorms that are not too big, with communal kitchen and internet facilities, which make them a perfect option for travelers on a budget.

There are many places to eat and try the local French cuisine, which has its fish specialties thanks to the city location. Unfortunately, like for many other part of France, there isn't a lot of choice for vegetarians and vegans -- that's why if you are on a strict budget and don't eat meat or fish, it's better to make your own food if you have the chance. In fact, in Antibes, there are plenty of bio and healthy shops where vegetarians and vegans might have a better luck finding something to eat than in the expensive restaurants.
