Get to know Orlando (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Orlando.

Orlando is a city in Orange County, Florida, USA. With over 200,000 people it is the biggest inland city in the state of Florida and very well known all over the world for its main attraction: Disney World. Disney World isn't actually in Orlando (it's in neighboring Lake Buena Vista), but Orlando is the most common place for travelers to choose as their home base when visiting this world-famous amusement park / fantasy land.

There are plenty of Orlando hostels to choose from and the prices are reasonable. Almost every Orlando hostel will help you organize your trips to any of the attractions and things to see / experience in the area; there are a variety of gardens (the Arboretum and Harry P. Leu Gardens, amongst others), parks, museums, and such. Disney World and its success has inspired many other similar businesses to set up shop in the area. These days the selection is really nice and the prices are good considering the value.

Orlando has its own airport, and is also served by a good selection of bus and train operators. Still, like anywhere in the US, having your own car is a huge advantage and it is highly recommended to take a rental around the city if you want to have total freedom of movement around your Orlando hostel. The car rental prices in the US are very competitive.

Orlando can be considered average in the US when looking at crime rates and safety. Some districts are more dangerous than others, but keep your street wits and common sense about you and you'll be fine.
