Essaouira is gorgeous, the beach is huge, and there are plenty of tourists (if you want there to be) to feel safe. It's a really nice break from the hassle of Morocco but there are no fewer shops or market stalls. Restaurants are a little pricey but only because I was on a 10£ a day budget! Haggle for the rooms when you get there because no one ever does and they overprice them a bit!.
Fez was cute.
When I got off the ferry, a kind gentleman greeted me and asked if I wanted a tour and said he was from the office of travel. I said, "cool!" And cool it was. He took me all over the city on a walking tour. He knew every single thing about that beautiful city. I loved Tânger and the olive oil and the lunches -- and the party on the beach until 5 a.m. I would recommend Tangier to travelers.
Fez is a great city. Traditional Moroccan goods, pottery, and leather in particular are great there.
I was in Morocco in September 2006 and I can say it's one of my favourite places on the Earth. I have visited Marrakech and liked it soooooooo much. I am going to visit it again very soon. People are friendly, everything's just perfect.
I visited Marrakech and it was a great place to visit. Well recommended. Try the tajin -- it's lovely, and prepare to haggle! All I can say is that Marrakech is worth a look.
