Must sees in Calgary are the Stampede (if you're in town in early - mid July), Prince's Island Park, Glenbow Museum, Heritage Park, Glenmore Resevoir/Weasel Head, Bowness Lagoon. Calgary is close to the mountains, beautiful city, friendly people.
Edmonton is a fun city all year round. They have a huge river valley for running, biking, blading etc. It's better to come in the summer when there are loads of festivels and concerts. It's a sports city. They love their hockey (Oilers), their football (Eskimos), and lots of other sports. So if you want to see great sports, Edmonton has it. If you want to do shopping, Edmonton has the biggest shopping mall in the world, West Edmonton Mall. There's quiet a bit to do, but the city is at it's best in the summer.
Yoho National Park … We were in Yoho a couple of weeks ago. It is truly the most beautiful place on earth.
Banff National Park … If you're in Banff, make sure to eat dinner at St. Jame's Gate. It's a "true" Irish pub. The food is delicious, the staff friendly and helpful, and the ambience very cozy. During the winter, this is THE place to get tips on the local ski areas, as most instructors, etc. stop in for a beer after work.
Jasper National Park … This place is full of drunken, European yuppie larvae. It's ok if you are under twenty-five years of age.
Waterton National Park … I loved this little hamlet. If you are lucky enough to visit during the Wildflower Festival like I was, remember to look down as often as you look up! The boat ride was good but only worth the money if you are not a hiker.
