Millenium House Reviews

Description

Hostel Milhouse is a family run hostel located in the financial district, very close to all the tourist attractions of Valparaíso (port of Valparaiso, museums, functioning elevators, hills alegre and concepcion, cafes, restaurants, night life, historic area, Sotomayor Square, Baburizza Palace, boat rides, Turri clock, court building, port market-place, and more!)

Situated above the port with amazing views, our accomodation is clean and has a friendly atmosphere. The staff are informative and happy to help you with planning or reservations for day trips. Included in the price is a typical Chilean breakfast and free fast internet. The facilities include hot showers, guest kitchen, bed linen, cable TV, DVD, tourist information, maps, free internet and 24 hour access. If you would like to feel at home in Valparaíso, this is the place to stay.

The rooms are spacious and clean with storage space for your backpack, and include shared rooms comprised of 2 - 6 beds with double beds available. There is a lovely living room that has amazing views of the port where breakfast is served and the internet is available. There are 3 communal bathrooms, each with hot powerful showers for the seven rooms. The kitchen is well equipped and open 24 hours a day.

The hostel is located in the Cerro Alegre, behind the Sotomayor plaza. It is easy to get to by taxi-buses from the bus terminal, you have to take any bus that goes to (Aduana). It is less than 300 meters to the port, with beautiful views and an artisan market and only a few blocks walk to supermarkets, restaurants and cafes. Valparaíso is surrounded by 45 hills. If you cannot face the walk up to see the spectacular views around the city, you can take one of the old gondola's which have been running for a century.

There are lovely plazas to explore, with statues and fountains of Chilean heroes, which you can find out about in the museums. Valparaiso is also the inspiration for the Chilean Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda, and there is a museum dedicated to his work.

The night life here is a lively, with a mix of discotheques, bars and pubs playing Latino, pop and rock music (and only a 2 blocks is the night life). The local delicacy without a doubt is marisco, the fresh sea food.
