Estação do Mangue Hostel is a modern house in the neighborhood of Boa Viagem in the city of Recife, Brazil. The area is very calm and it has basic services around.

The Location

The hostel is located in the middle of the neighborhood of Boa Viagem. The hostel is ten minutes away from the beach of Boa Viagem. Within five minutes' walking, there's a stop for the bus that can get you everywhere (transit station, airport, historical center). You can find a big supermarket and the market ten minutes away from the hostel. One kilometer away, there's a big shopping center with a lot of places to eat.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The hostel has two floors. On the ground floor there is a family room of four people with bunk beds. In the first floor there are two dorm rooms of eight people each and two private rooms of two and four people. The dorm rooms have lockers, air conditioning, and at each bed there are two plugs. The dorm rooms are too small for eight people and the mattresses are really old. There is a bathroom on the ground floor and on the first floor there is one bathroom for the dorm rooms. All the bathrooms have shower, toilet, and sink. The bathrooms are well maintained, but the shower is cold.

Common Spaces

In front of the house, there is a little garden with a couple of tables and some chairs -- the perfect environment to chill. On the ground floor you can find the reception and the living room in the same space with some sofas, chairs, a TV, and a little library. The kitchen is very big and fully equipped with two big tables and fresh free water (in the sink there's a filter for the water). All the common areas are really clean.

Summary

Estaçãp do Mangue is a good place to stay if you're arriving from or leaving for the airport (it's ten minutes away by taxi). There aren't many hostels in this area. You cannot have a swim at the beach of Boa Viagem because of the sharks. This is a quiet hostel because there aren't many people around. The Wi-Fi signal works well in the common areas but in the rooms the signal is weak.
