• Are you coming by car?
• HI OSLO Holtekilen is situated only 9 km from the city center, so it’ll only take a few minutes to reach us.
• When coming from Oslo on E18, take the exit Strand/Stabekk. Take the first exit at the roundabout, drive through the underpass, then carry on driving straight on Michelets vei, following the sign towards Strand. Within a minute or two, you’ll see our building on the left. If you’re driving a bus, you’ll need to take the next exit, after Strand/Stabekk, because the height limit of the underpass is 3,2 metres.
• When driving from Drammen, take the exit strand/Stabekk, then follow the signs Oslo/Holtet/Holtekilen driving on Michelets vei.
• Free parking for our guests is located behind the main building of the hostel. Don’t worry, we have several parking spots for buses as well.
• With train
• From Oslo Gardermoen Airport take trains L12, R10 and R11 to Oslo Central Station (Oslo S). Change to any of L1, L2 or L21 trains that run towards Stabekk. These trains are operated by the Norwegian Railway Services (VY). You’ll find information here about timetables and tickets.
• You can also take the airport express train to Stabekk, it’s called Flytoget. Taking a Flytoget train, you can skip having to switch to another train or the bus, giving you time to relax and enjoy the way to the hostel. The train ticket to this train is of course a bit more expensive, but in some cases the most economical solution. We’ll tell you about it a bit later.
• (What you have to pay attention to is to take the train your ticket is valid for. The two train services are operated by different companies, therefore the train tickets aren’t interchangeable.)
• Hop off the train at Stabekk train station, cross the underpass, and walk up on the street called Kveldsroveien following the direction of the train you just took. This street soon turns into a smaller one on the left – follow the street signs carefully! Walk past the charming houses, across the zebra crossing, then keep walking the little lane that’s now called Kveldsrosvingen. Soon you’ll see a pedestrian bridge in front of you, cross it, and on the other side walk down the lane called Holtet. Within a minute you’ll see our building on the left . Welcome
• With bus
• We usually suggest our guests to take the bus from Oslo, this way there’s less walking to the hostel. You’ll need Bus 160 towards Rykkinn which you can board in several spots in Oslo, but here are the two best spots:
• Oslo Bussterminal. Oslo’s central bus station lies right just across the street from Oslo S train station. This is the starting station of the 160 bus, hop on at platform 21 (or check the information screens for up-to-date information).
• Nationaltheatret. If you arrive by train that stops at Nationaltheatret, you can take the 160 bus from here as well. Your bus stop (G) is situated right in front of the Royal Palace.
• Our bus stop is called Kveldsroveien, and it’s about a 3 minute walk from the hostel. Kveldsroveien bus stop from oslo will drop you off in front of a Shell station, right after the above mentioned pedestrian bridge. Just cross the bridge, walk down the small street called Holtet, and you’ll see the hostel building on the left in a minute.
