Get to know Supetar (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Supetar.

Supetar is the official center of the Croatian Dalmatian island Brac, which is home to many beautiful beaches, including those in Supetar (which has five miles of beach). It is home to less than four thousand people, but has a variety of amenities, including beaches (one of which has inflatable playgrounds in the water), bars (some of which have pools), water slides, gelato stands, restaurants, accommodations, vineyards, and olive plantations.

Supetar is a popular destination for those in Split, as the ferry only takes forty-five minutes to reach Supetar (it is the closest island stop to Split) and the ferry runs fairly frequently throughout the day. If you would like to go elsewhere on the island, you can take a car or public bus. If you prefer not to utilize ferries, there is an airport on Brac that is about fourteen miles from Supetar. You can also book a private boat in Split with a tour company or on your own.

Supetar is popular among Croatians and foreigners of all ages. The town is fairly small, so it is easy to see all of the sights (mainly churches and museums) and enjoy the sea in a day. Also, if you walk from the port along the beaches, you can search for the best fit -- whether you want to play on inflatables, be near a bar, or be in a more secluded area. As you walk along the beaches near the ferry port, you will also find a large, gorgeous cemetery. The beaches are "pebble beaches" aside from one beach that is further out from the city center (that would require vehicle transportation). To access this beach, you can ask tour information, which is located at the ferry port.

You should be able to find a bed in a Supetar, Croatia hostel most times of year if you make a reservation a little bit in advance. However, hostels in Supetar, Croatia, are quite a bit more expensive than those in Split, so if you just want to visit Supetar (and/or the island Brac) for a day and are on a budget, you may want to stay in Split.
