Nusa Dua, Sulawesi, Indonesia, is located on the small circular peninsula at the southern end of the island of Bali. It is primarily known for being an elite luxury resort, therefore what you should expect here is an array of hotels, bars, boutiques, and entertainment facilities. While it is not your typical budget destination, it attracts many backpackers with its pristine sandy beaches and clean turquoise waters. Moreover, because of the local regulations that rule out any buildings higher than the highest local palm tree, the built environment is still not as disturbing as in some other places in the country.
While most tourists come here for a relaxing beach time, it can be a good base from which to discover the nearby sights and attractions. If you walk to the very end of the bars on Jalan Pantai Megiat, there is an impressive statue of Rama and Shinta, the protagonists of the popular Hindu epic. A bit further, you can marvel at the blowholes and rock formations carved by the waves of the sea.
If you venture to the other side of the peninsula, you should not miss the Uluwatu temples, which provide some of the most breathtaking sights over the rock walls bordering the sea. Moreover, at night, you can attend some traditional Balinese dance and theatre performances here. Just north of Uluwatu, you have some of the most magnificent beaches you will find in Bali, including the Padang Padang and Dreamland beaches.
While public transportation might be highly problematic in Bali and all over Indonesia in general, those wanting to visit Nusa Dua are lucky, because there are regular Sarbagita buses running between Nusa Dua and Batubulan through Sanur and Kuta for a reasonable price.
While prices in Nusa Dua might be higher than in other parts of Bali, if you decide to enjoy the luxury for a few days, you can find a Nusa Dua, Sulawesi, Indonesia hostel that is extremely clean and comfortable. Otherwise, you can opt for one of the many hostels in Kuta or Sanur and take the Sarbagita bus here. However, make sure you have a good look at which hostel you prefer as their comfort levels vary on a wide scale (some are extremely modest).
