• Costa Rica has two International Airports which are San Jose (SJO) and Liberia (LIR)
• While Liberia International Airport is closer to us (1 hour driving time) it is most likely also more expensive to fly to Liberia than it would be to San Jose (3 1/2 hour driving time).
• From San Jose:
• From San Jose take the Pan American Highway (ROUTE 1) west towards Liberia and after about 130 Km you will come to a small village called Limonal.
• Turn Left (ROUTE 18) in Limonal heading towards Nicoya and stay on this road till it ends (49.3 km) and make a right turn (ROUTE 21) towards Nicoya and then Santa Cruz (34.2km).
• Once you are at the second Gas Station in Santa Cruz hang a left (route 160) just past the small bridge towards Tamarindo.
• Follow the paved road to a small town called '27 de Abril' (16 km) where the paved road will veer off to the left and an unpaved road will go towards Tamarindo.
• Take the unpaved road for about (6.4km) and the El Sabanero property will be on your left hand side on a hill on a small intersection with a bus station (called Caa Fistula).
• From Liberia:
• Drive from the airport to the main road via the access road and turn right (2.6 kM).
• Go straight all the way (Hwy 21 approx. 47km) till you get to just before Santa Cruz.
• Take a right turn just before Santa Cruz in direction Tamarindo. (Do not take Tamarindo turn off in Belen which is 20 km before Santa Cruz)
