• Elba is easy to reach with both public transport and by car. Unless you want to pay a high price for a plain ticket directly to the local airport, we advise you to travel by public transport or by car. You will not regret the boattrip that will take you to the island.
• Public Transport
• Travelling from the direction of Pisa/Firenze or Rome, please take a train to Piombino Maritima, the harbour of Piombino. (You can also take the train to Campiglia Marittima and from there a bus to Piombino porto). There are four ferry operators offering services between Piombino and Elba. The best way to travel is to take a ferry to Portoferraio. Once on the ferry, your Elba experience will start with great views of the island. Please note that in case you are travelling on a budget, the consumption of food and beverages on board of the ferries can be expensive.
• After your arrival in Portoferraio, you can take a bus or taxi to Lacona. The busstation in the harbour is easy to reach. Busline 118 will take you to Lacona in 50 minutes and stops in front of Camping Lacona. A daycard will cost you 4,20 Euro per person. Please note that busses don't run every hour, so please plan ahead to avoid disappointment. Because travelling with public transport on Elba can be difficult, due to delays and uncertainty of busses showing up, we offer a transfer service from the harbour of Portoferraio to Lacona (20 minutes only). The costs of this service is €10 per person. If you want to make use of this service, please inform us at least one day before arrival.
• By car
• When you travel by car, Lacona can be reached in about 20 minutes from Portoferraio. First follow the signs to Porto Azzurro. On the the oval roundabout, make a right turn and start following the signs for Lacona. As soon as you passed the ridge, keep following the road, take a left at the roundabout in front of the minimarket. Take a right on the next crossing. You will find the campsite after 500 meters on your left hand side.
