• From San Jose (and points south, Jaco, Quepos, Pavones, etc.):
• From the airport Juan Santamaria, you have to take route # 1, the “Pan-American”, following the signs in the direction of Naranjo, Grecia, Palmares, San Ramón, Puntarenas and Liberia.
• The fastest way from San José to reach Playa Negra is crossing the river Tempisque via the bridge “La Amistad Costa Rica-Taiwan”.
• After 120 kilometers on the Pan-American in the direction of Liberia, you turn left at the Shell gas station, following the signs “Puente de la amistad”. Cross the bridge and continue until the intersection at Mansión, here you turn right and follow the signs to Santa Cruz.
• Drive through Santa Cruz in the direction of Liberia. About 300 meters after leaving the city you will cross a bridge, after which there is an intersection where you turn left (following signs to Paraíso) and follow this road for about 15 kilometers until you reach the village 27 de Abril.
• When the pavement finishes you turn left and follow this road for about 400 meters until you reach an intersection, where you turn right and follow this road for 14 kilometers until you reach the village Paraíso; once you reach Paraíso turn right at the soccer field and continue on this road in the direction of Avellanas until you reach the village Los Pargos.
• At the soccer field of Los Pargos you turn right; from there on you have to drive only 700 meters to arrive at Kontiki, located at the left hand side of the road.
