"The Laughing Kiwi Backpackers is a really nice and relaxed hostel. I stayed there for one week and had a good time. Mark and Wendy (the owners) are very friendly. "Motueka Backpackers is located right on High Street (the main street in Motueka town) next to the barber shop and about a block from the information center. It is mostly for camping. The owner, Lyndsay -- quite possibly the friendliest most accommodating hostel manager on earth -- will provide a tent with free mattress and bedding upon request. "Happy Apple Backpackers is a party hostel; many of its guests work in the fruit-picking business. Despite its reasonably poor rating, the hostel has many services and facilities. We were warmly welcomed and invited to inspect the hostel before we booked in. Our room was spacious and clean. HI - YHA Motueka Hostel - Bakers Lodge Hostel

"Bakers Lodge is around a fifteen-minute steady walk from the bus stop, information centre, and the centre of town. Reception is straight in front of you as you enter. If it's unmanned, there is a number to call for attention. When manned, the staff are helpful -- they let you know what's on and what's worth going to see.
