Guess what? Geelong is also named and spelled Great Ocean Road - It is the same destination. Goodbye confusion.

Geelong is the second-largest city in the state of Victoria and you will find much to see and do while you are here. If nature tickles your fancy, you will love taking a trip down to Eastern Beach for a swim and a relaxing day. From there you can take a stroll through the Geelong Botanic Gardens, which is home to species of plants from around the world, or take a trip out to the You Yangs. The You Yangs is home to some great hiking and impressive views. It is also not far from the Serendip Sanctuary where you will find a range of different habitats from the wetlands and get to explore that flora and fauna within it.

For a bit of culture, you can head on down to the Waterfront Geelong and enjoy the new developments and the hip restaurants, cafes, and bars along the water. The Geelong Art Gallery is home to some outstanding Australian artwork and is also well worth a visit. For those really wanting to get into the Aussie culture, you can head on over to Kardinia Park to watch the Geelong Cats football team play at their home stadium if it is during the AFL season.

Geelong is only a short distance from the beginning of the Great Ocean Road drive and is a great place to explore before setting off on this journey from here.

Hostels in Geelong are located scattered on or around the Ryrie Street area close to Eastern Beach. Your hostel staff should be able to point you in the direction of anything that you may need and to the different attractions from here.
